[Throwing up]
"Alright baby, it's ok.. get it out"[Continues throwing up]
"I thought you were a professional drinker, what happened?" I lightly giggled.
Nikki groaned as he shifted to sit down, arm still on the toilet seat, supporting his limp body
"Sometimes shit happens" he coughed out."I don't want you to get hurt... do you always have to go all or nothin'?" I laughed, whipping the sweaty hair out of his face.
"Yep" he takes a large breath.
"Aww. My poor little baby" I say with a young voice and pull his back into my lap.
"You didn't let me work the alcohol out of my system last night, so basically this is your fault." he attempted a smirk with closed eyes.
"MY FAULT?" I scoff. "You are so full of shit!" Nikki let out a weak laugh, which quickly devolved into more coughing. It was clear that he was paying the price for his excessive drinking, and as much as I wanted to tease him, I also felt a bit of concern. "Are you gonna be ok, hun?"
"Yeah," he grunted, sitting himself up. "I'll be fine."
'Okay then..." I pat his leg and stand up. "I'm going to make myself a cup of coffee and I'll be back to check on ya." [Mwah] I blew him a kiss. I walk into the living room and see Vince awake, watching some cartoons on TV. "Oh hey Vince, I didn't think you'd be up yet." I greet him as I continue walking to the kitchen.
"It's not that early" he rebuttals following me to the coffee maker.
I turn around not expecting him to be standing directly behind me. "Oh!..hi..." Vince smiles and tries to rest his hands on my hips. "Uh- what are you doing?" I try to mask my uncomfortableness with a laugh.
"Just wonderin.." he smirks.
"Vince!" I yell in a whisper, pushing his hands off of me. "How many times do I have to tell you? I didn't even know who you were! I didn't even know who Nikki was at the time! It didn't mean anything.." I look at him right in his eyes, hoping to get my point across.
"You are so eager to push me aside, aren't you?" he says as I literally push past him to get to the fridge.
"I'm not pushing you aside. I'm pushing what I did aside." I refuse to make eye contact.
"Was it really that bad to the point where you can't even look at me?" he scoffs.
"I'm not saying it was bad, I'm saying what I did was bad! And Im not going to be the one the fucks up this relationship. So if you would please..." I put my hand up, stopping my sentence.
"So you're going to wait for Nikki to fuck it up instead so you wont feel as bad?"
"I did not say that!" I rebuttal.
"Mmm sounds like ya did." he leans against the counter.
I distract myself by rifling through the cabinet, looking for something I can give Nikki to eat. "I just don't want to talk about this, Vince.. Can we please just forget that it ever happened?"
"And what are you going to tell him when he asks about your dating past? Just leave me out?"
"WE NEVER DATED!" I screamed in a whisper.
"No but we have history" he replied.
"I don't think us screwing around in a storage closet would be considered history" I scoff.
"Then how about we make some history" he whispered in my ear and wrapped himself around my torso. I wish I didn't, but it sent shivers down my spine.
I pulled away from Vince's embrace, my heart racing as I placed a box of cereal down. "I can't believe you're even suggesting this right now," I hissed at Vince, trying to keep my voice down so Nikki wouldn't overhear. "You know how much I care about Nikki. I can't just throw everything away because of a one-time thing that happened before I even knew him."
Vince leaned in closer, his voice barely a whisper. "I'm not asking you to throw anything away. I'm just saying... ya know." he mischievously smiled
"Vince, you're complicating things," I said, my frustration growing. "I love Nikki, and I want to make this work. It's not fair to him, and it's not fair to me."
"Fine." He backed up. "But don't blame me when you come crawling back and begging for more" he winked and lightly slapped my ass as we left me alone in the kitchen. It took me a bit off guard, but what took me really off guard was that I didn't mind the slap. I just rather it would have been Nikki instead so I wouldn't have to feel guilty about it. I shook my head back into reality and made my way to the bathroom.
"Hey hunny.." I greeted. "I think you should eat a little something." I sit down closer to him.
"I'd just rather lay down for a while." he sighed.
I'm still concerned so I put my hand up to his forehead to check his temperature "Oh jeez Nikki, you're burning up! I don't think this is just a hangover." I voice with worry.
"I'm fine." he said sternly. "I'm just going to go to bed." he begins pushing himself up.
"Do you want some help?" I stand up and attempt to give him a hand. Instead he pushed past me and went to the bedroom. I stood there contemplating to go comfort him, or give him some space. He has been seeming to be easily irritable and the last thing I want to do is poke the bear. I decided to mind my business and went outside to relax and soak in the morning sun. "Hey Mom!" I greet, walking down the deck stairs.
"Good Morning Aria." she replies.
"Where's Dad at?" I ask.
"I think he's down in the boat house." she looked up from her magazine. "I just saw that blonde one go down there."
"Oh great" I roll my eyes. "I'm worried about Nikki.."
"Why's that?"
"He woke up pretty sick- I thought it was just a hangover but now grouchy and has a pretty high temperature."
"Well, he was drinking all night. Does he do drugs?" she asked, taking a sip of her coffee.
"I don't know!" I deny with a high pitched voice.
"I think you need to be careful around all these boys. I don't want you to end up hurt, pregnant, or even dead."
"Why would you say that to me?" I respond, my guard now up.
"This is why." She slaps the magazine down on the table to reveal a piece that was done about the band. I picked up the magazine and scanned the pages.
"So what? They exaggerate things they say in these interviews to make people freak out like you are!"
She grabs the magazine and begins to read off it "Someones gotta drink it? Someones gotta snort it? Who do you think these people are, Aria?"
"You need to give them a chance and see them as people! Not just some tailored image that the tabloids make them look like!" I defend.
"Don't be stupid Aria. You need to keep your guard up around them or before you know it, you've been sucked dry by the demons these people carry alongside them!" she shouted.
I heard the sound of the screen door open and saw Tommy and Mick appear on the deck. Mick leaned against the wood railing, lighting a cigarette and Tommy began aching his way down the steps "Mornin' Ari, Good morning Mrs. Preston." Tommy smiled.
"And for the record..." Mick took a drag "...were not actually devils worshipers." he paused with another drag. "Nikki, maybe, but the rest of us are normal."
"Oh well thanks a lot for the reassurance Mick" I rolled my eyes.
"You are so very welcome."
