Why him?!

I slowly wake up the sweet, sweet voices of my mother and Dan on the phone-yelling.

I get up and make my way to Austin's room, and he's already awake with his face in his hands.

"What is he calling about this time?" I ask.

Austin clearly didn't know I was up, because he was startled by my voice. He calms down and takes a deep breath.

"Same old same old. Hes talking about how we should be his and she needs to take him back.".

I get under the covers and lay in his bed, basically kicking him out.

"Austin, he wouldnt last a second with us." I say smiling back.

He nods. Mom yells back at him telling him that she never liked him and that we will never ever meet him again. I should probably tell you guys who Dan is.

Dan is a middle aged man, who used to work with my mom. But he got fired for sexual harassment . Now he calls my mom saying that what they had was special and he needs to see his " sons "

But the thing is, my mother and him never had anything um-sexual. Now he calls every now and then saying we are his and the same sob story. Oh..

....and Dan is a homophobic. Thats another reason mom hates him. Austin and I hated him from the start. He would come here drunk and try to hit on my mom.

Sometimes he would try to touch her but Austin would always call mom out of the room.

Mom is still yelling so I decide to get up and walk downstairs. She sees me and her face goes completely blank. Austin comes down behind me.

"Don't tell me I woke you boys up?" she asks.

We both slowly nod.

"Mom, can we talk to him? I promise I wont give out any information. Can we just talk?" Austin asks walking closer to mom.

She nods. I walk over and grab moms hand and walk her to a chair. Dan really stresses her out. Shes getting older and doesn't need to be yelling like this. I go and grab her meds and water and bring them to her. She smiles and I walk off to Austin. We walk upstairs with the phone and sit back on my bed.

"hello?" austin asks.

"What the hell? What happened? Who is this? " Dan asks. Austin smirks.

"Its Austin and Joseph. "

"oh, hello boys. How is everything? I would love to see you guys again. I haven't seen you in what, a few years huh?"

"Actually its been like 4 months. Remember, you broke in at night and tried to grab Joseph?"

lol yeah...true story people.

One night Dan broke in and tried to take me with him. Luckily Austin was having one of his hot nights and decided to sit in the kitchen. So yeah, that means Dan climbed up the house. Anyways, when Dan picked me up he walked down stairs and Austin saw him and attacked. I woke up and was dropped to the ground. Mom ran downstairs and everything after that was just a bunch of yelling and eventually he left.

"You both know I was drunk that night. And I'm sorry for causing you boys so much trouble."

"Dan can I tell you something?" I ask.

Austin and I never show mercy with him. All the times he has hurt this family- we just don't put up with it. We've heard the 'Im sorry' card way too many time.

"Oh you can tell me anything Joey."

I shiver when he calls me Joey, makes me sick.

"Don't call me Joey. And I'm gay. So please leave me and my family alone. Cause guess what, I'm gay and proud. Oh my goddness somebody call Jesus because I'm sinning right? Dan, I'm sorry. Hate me now, please. Leave us alone and stop calling in the morning because I need my sleep. Thank you and good bye." I say and hang up, walking away with the phone to give it back to mom.

Austin slowly follows, laughing. Mom turns around in her chair to see whats going on. I smile, as big as possible, handing her the phone. Austin finally catches up , still laughing.

"What happened?" she asks.

"Mother, Joseph just completely told Dan off. Oh my goodness it ...it was amazing." Austin says.

"He's not gonna care though. He'll call back." I announce.

"Yeah well I bet you'll have even more to say to him then." Austin nods at me.

"Well, now that I've taken my meds and rested, I can go out with     Mr. Ione. He invited me out and I was afraid that with all this drama I wouldn't make it. Also, I'm proud of you boys for standing up for him. Thanks. I don't know what I would ever do with out you two." She says jumping up and grabbing her purse.

She waves bye and leaves.

"She's a tough cookie dude, a tough, tough cookie." Austin says walking to lock the door.

"She really is. I mean after Dan, she just pushes it away and goes on with life, wish I had that talent. She really is amazing, " i say walking over with him.

" And that's why we love her right?" he asks.

I nod. We turn away and head upstairs but as soon as we reach the steps, we hear a horn and a scream. Just then a man is screaming for help and for someone to call 911. Austin and I run outside.

Our eyes, filled with tears as we try to see if we are dreaming.

What we just saw, will never leave our minds ever again
