Why him?!

Lies

(JOEYS P.O.V)

I'm awoken by someone screaming. I quickly jump up and run downstairs, of course I stumble with my head hurting from the sudden rush of movement and sleep in my eyes.

I get to the kitchen and look around. I glance at the clock , 5am.

Who would be screaming at this time?

I hear the scream again, but from outside. I run outside and see Amber running away. But from who? I take another step so I'm past the bush and look to see who shes running away from.

Nate.

She sees me and starts running faster, Nate being a guy, speeds up and catches up.

He doesn't see me.

He tries to grab Amber but she fights with all her might to get him away. She uses her elbow and slams it into his gut, causing him to cough and hold his stomach. She takes that as an advantage to run.

I'm about to run inside and call the police when Amber yells my name.

"Joseph!" She yells again.

She finally gets to the house, out of breath.

I lead her inside and shut the door and lock it, making sure Nate didn't see where she went, even though he knows she lives with me, and he knows were I live.

"Amber what the hell just happened!? Why was he chasing you I thought he was in jail!" I whisper yell.

She turns around quickly and I can see the fear in her eyes.

"I- I saw him. Walking down the street. And I always take morning walks because I'm stressed and they calm me down. But, he he uh. Saw me. And I asked him why he was here and instantly he tried to grab me. I was only a few roads away I thought I could out run him, he didn't look in shape." She pauses to see if I'm following and I nod.

"And he was pretty fast. He actually got a hold of me and tried to drug me- but I know a guys weakness and I kicked him there, if he were going drug me, you would have- anyways. I ran away again, this time screaming, hoping someone would help. And he told me-"

She gets interrupted by a loud banging on the door. I motion for her to run upstairs and go to Mr. Ione and tell him what she told me, and to also get Jessica and Austin.

She runs upstairs to do so.

I look at the door. Another loud banging. I slowly walk over to the door hoping its not Nate.

I slowly turn the knob and open the door. Just to be met by the one and only, Nate.

"Joseph. Fancy seeing you" he says leaning in the door frame.

I don't move from my spot, blocking him from entering.

"Nate this is my house. I kind of live here. But I don't want to have small talk. Why are you here? I thought you were in jail" I say, looking him dead in the eyes.

He repays my favor and stares right into my soul.

"I know people. And I have a very good lawyer." He winks at me.

Eww.

"Nate! For Jesus sake you shot somebody! How do you get out of that!?" I ask, raising my voice a little.

He laughs.

"Oh Joseph. Stupid,stupid Joseph. I'll let you figure that out on your own. But, enough chitter chatter. Where did Amber go?"

"As if I would tell you. Nate you need to leave. I hate to do this but its too early and I don't want to see you after you put Mike in this situation." I state.
