Clay and George had awoken in the middle of the night. It was time for them to leave.
Their bags were packed and they were ready to go. But first they had to say their goodbyes.
The most painful part.
Clay went and knocked on his mothers bedroom door. The door opened. Rose carefully peeked her head out.
"We're gonna leave", Clay spoke, swallowing down his tears.
His mother shot one look at him, before breaking out in a sob. Big tears starting to stream down her face.
"It shouldn't end like this", her sobs got louder. The blonde tightened his grip around her. "I know", his voice broke a bit.
Drista was also awake but she was just staring on the floor. She watched as her mother cried and felt a sharp pain in her heart as she did.
Their mother almost never cried in front of them. Only a few times but those memories were quite blurry.
That's when there was a pounding on the door.
"It's royal calling open up!", they yelled.
Panic arose in the room, everyone starting to run around to find somewhere to get out. Cutting their goodbyes short.
"Climb out Clays bedroom window!", Rose hissed. Clay and George nodded and headed back to the room.
Running into the room Clay felt a firm grip grab his wrist.
Drista.
She started crying now too. "Clay..you can't leave!", she cried. Clay wrapped his arms around his little sister. "I'm sorry but I can't stay", he choked out a sob.
"But your the only one I have! We- we can fix this somehow- we always do!", she stuttered. Clay bent down and faced her.
"Just promise me you'll come back", she looked at him, eyes cried red. He held out his pinky. "I promise", he said as Drista took it.
Drista and Rose hugged him one last time.
"Come back okay? Otherwise I will search the entire world until I find you", Rose stroked his cheek. He let tears flow down his face.
"I promise"
They heard a pounding noise on the door again. "Open up or we will break the door down!", they yelled.
Quickly they scurried towards the window to get out. Rose and Drista followed to help them get all the stuff they needed with them.
Finally they had gathered everything and had multiple layers of clothing in case it got cold.
"Wait! One last thing Clay", his mother stopped him.
He looked back.
"I love you"
Clay smiled a teary smile.
"I love you to", he said before jumping out the window with his lover and running as fast as they could.
Their hearts pounded in their chests as they ran. Begging to anyone that the guards wouldn't see them.
They got to the train station and went up to the desk. "Can we get the train that will take us as far away as possible from here?", George panted.
The lady looked at the time table.
"We have a train leaving now and that's probably the furthest away we can get you, if your quick you'll make it!", she quickly clipped two tickets and handed it to them.
The blonde handed her the cash. "Keep the change", Clay spoke, rushing towards the train.
The train honked one last time to show that is was departing and they hopped on. Finding their suit, collapsing onto the seats.
The two boys threw a glance at each other.
One of them choked out a sob and before they knew it they had thrown their arms around each other and were crying their eyes out.
Crying because they were under a death threat, crying because they had left family behind and hadn't gotten proper goodbyes, crying because they didn't know if they ever could come back.
They cried until they couldn't cry anymore, but didn't let go of each other.
"Don't leave", George held Clay tight.
"I won't", he whispered.
- time skip -
Slowly George opened his eyes, being met with someone stroking a hand trough his hair.
"Good morning sweetheart", Clay smiled at him, placing a kiss on his cheek. He groggily sat up and looked out the window. The landscape quickly passing by.
"Are we there yet?", George questioned, as if he were a little kid. Clay shook his head and sighed. "I don't know honestly"
The brunette grabbed one of their bags searching for something. A confused expression painted his pale face. He pulled something out of the bag. "Why did we pack a baguette?", George inspected the bread.
Clay shrugs. "I mean, It's a baguette how can you not". George giggled, breaking the bread in two handing a half to the blonde. "Consider this some form of breakfast"
He somehow also found jam in one of the bags putting it onto the plain bread. Slowly eating their meal, not speaking as they did.
"We're gonna need a place to stay, but I'm pretty sure we packed tents so I think we're gonna spend a few nights in those im guessing", George brushed some crumbs off of his lap.
Clay nodded in agreement. "I know a bit about plants and what's edible or not, I'm guessing that will be handy"
George sighed. They didn't even know where they were going. Just hopping onto the nearest train in the middle of the night. And after everything that happened, it was quite a blurry memory.
The train had begun to slow down. Which meant they would soon arrive at their destination.
Gathering their things the train soon came to a stop completely. They listened to all the passengers starting to get off. Soon walking and getting off the train themselves.
Stepping onto the concrete ground both of the boys glanced around. Looking at all the people wandering around, either going to catch a train or get picked up by a friend, family member or perhaps even a partner.
No one acknowledged them standing still in the middle of the crowd, simply walking around them as if they were an obstacle.
Slowly they clasped their hands together.
"Clay, where are we?", George asked shakily
The blonde held his hand even tighter.
"Honestly George, I have no idea"
