I was in the kitchen, finishing my morning chores before going to school.
“Ellie!” the wicked witch of the west, a.k.a. My stepmom, yelled. “Why didn’t you clean the pool last night?”
Ummm... I don’t know, maybe because I was already up until three in the morning doing other stupid chores.
“I’m sorry, Tonia, it won’t happen again.” I said.
“You’re right it won’t happen again, because you are going to do it, NOW!” she said, with venom in her words.
“But I have to get to school,” I said, it was the first day, and I didn’t want to miss the bus, and be late.
“FINE!” she snapped, “go to your precious school! The only reason I’m letting you go, is becayse you need good grades for good scholarships, because I’m not going to pay for your college tuition.!”
‘Wow,’ I thought sarcastically, ‘I have the best stepmom in the world!’
Right then the bus pulled up, so I grabbed my bag, and raced out the door. Before the bus pulled away I saw my sisters walk out in their Jimmy Choo shoes, with their Prada handbags, and get into their matching, Ferrari Spider, sports cars. Typical.
It wasn’t long before the bus pulled up outside the school.
‘OMG!’ I thought, ‘this building is HUGE!’ and I wasn’t kidding, this thing must’ve been a castle originally, because that’s what it looked like, with all of the turrets and everything. I couldn’t tell if this was supposed to be inviting because it was beautiful, or intimidating for the same reason.
I then realized that I was the only one still standing on the sidewalk, everyone else had already gone to meet up with their friends that they hadn’t seen since last school year.
‘Time to be brave,’ I thought, and I stepped into the crowd of people.
