LISA'S POV

After visiting our former school, I led Jennie to a nearby food court where we used to have our lunch.

It is fortunate that the food stalls here managed to survive given the fact of how economic crisis in Thailand has been affecting especially the local businesses and establishments in the past two years, hence the abandonment of the public highschool after the government cut the funding.

Maybe I'll manage some arrangements to save that school.

After all, it plays a significant role in both I and my wife's life. It would be a waste to let go.

Less than five minutes, the famous Thai pad noodles was served with extra dishes we ordered. I quickly undo the chopsticks from inside and placed it to Jennie's bowl before mine.

"Good?"

I asked as she gracefully sipped.

"So good."

"Eat more, wife."

I placed a few more dish on her plate and smiled as she finished it all.

Throughout the afternoon until the clouds are in extreme purplish contrast, we walked around the vicinity. It was a typical decent rural area where you meet townsfolk of varying age each taking pride of the sceneries found in their abode.

Our lives used to be this simple until Jennie's family moved in Seoul one summer and soon we also followed.

My dad and her dad could not let their promise of having us married slipped out their hands.

Maybe it was also because I begged my father that we follow them. Jennie is my best friend, she is the love of my life. I can't bear to have her distant.

7 years of relationship, and 3 years after college I decided to propose.

Not long after a year, we've been blessed with Ellie.

And 5 years later, here we are.

We lost him.

I lost him, I lost my first child.

We lost our son.

"What are you thinking?"

My trail of thoughts faltered when the beauty beside me spoke.

Night time, we are at the peak of the rural area where citylights are vivid in sight and busy streets are buzzing with people.

"Our history, Jennie. We have been for a long time. I don't think I can let it go."

Seconds passed and silence took its course.

There were stars prominent in the sky, twinkling as if they are merely an inch distance to us.  Yet nobody could outshine the moon I have beside.

"Hold me?"

Jennie uttered softly with white smoke appearing from the coldness of her lips.

Willingly I enclosed her to my embrace, her head on my shoulders as I kiss her hair.

"I love you, Jennie."

"Thank you, Lisa."

and for me, it was enough.

Our last day in Thailand, I decided to meet a common friend we share.

"Who are we meeting? Why aren't you telling me?"

Jennie pursed her lips in anticipation.

"Someone you know baby, more than I do."

"Tell me, Lisa."

I laughed. Same old Jennie, patience is non-existing.

"There he is."

I saw the man entered the coffee shop together with an unfamiliar kid.

"Kai, how have you been?"

When Jennie heard the name, she froze in place before slowly lifting her head.

"I'm fine, Lis. How are you and your wife, Jennie?"

He smiled brightly and stole a glance of the woman I love.

"Still mourning, but we'll get through it."

"Is he your son?"

Before Kai answered, the boy ran to Jennie and hugged her tight.

My wife barely accepted the hug and was awkward of what she will do, so I tap her lap gently to calm her nerve.

Maybe, her demeanor with a child was affected after our son's passing.

But one thing seemed confusing to me. This is the first time I've seen this child why was he acting as if he already met Jennie?

"Meet Kyler, he's my son with Krystal."

With the mention of his late wife, his eyes were crestfallen. It has been months since Krystal's passing.

I know the pain of mourning so I encouraged him.

"You'll get through this as well, my friend. And if fate wills, you will fall in love with another woman again...as lovely and kind-hearted as Krystal was."

Kai smiled a bit and nodded.

He stood and went close to my side where Jennie and Kyler were.

As he was trying to cut the grip of Kyler to Jennie, the boy embraced them both happily.

"Mama, papa!"

The lines of my forehead creased. Is he mistaking Krystal for Jennie longing for her mother that passed?

I saw Jennie's eyes with fright and desperately held my hand as if asking me not to believe anything.

In turn, I smiled.

Of course, what is to worry? Kai is a good man, and my wife have I told is the best?

Kai in embarrassment bowed his head to us.

"I'm sorry, he misses his mother."

"It's alright. Little Kyler, are you hungry already hmmm?"

He silently nodded his head as Kai placed him on his lap.

"I miss you Mama Jennie! When will you come—"

Before the boy finished his words, Kai quickly pressed his palm to shut him.

I turned to look at my wife worrying if this is causing her stress.

But she was silent, barely even talking.

She would only answer a single word and let both Kai and I speak again.

Kai knew her first before I did, they were friends since elementary and I've only known her not until second year highschool came.

She told me they were each other's first best friend and puppy love. At first, I used to be jealous but the man kept distance when we began our relationship so I calmed and we even became friends.

Kai met Krystal on our first year college, they were in a relationship and married after 2 years of graduating.

Needless to say, he contacted me to meet a day ago as he was also coincidentally in Thailand with his son.

How did he know we were in Thailand? I don't know.

Maybe Jennie and him spoke?

Maybe.
