Sophie's POV
I sat at my desk staring at my computer, several files sitting beside me. A colleague of mine came in, two cups in his hands. He grabbed a chair and sat beside me. I ripped my eyes away from the computer, and focused on Fitz, my colleague of 5 years, and the two cups that now sat on my desk.
"I got a coffee for you," the brunet man said, a smile on his face. I sighed and grabbed the cup, taking a big gulp from it. Fitz chuckled, taking a small sip from his cup. Fitz was a sweet and kind man. He's my age, a few months older, taller, and he's very cute.
"Stressed out?" I nodded my head.
"I have a case that I'm so close to finishing but I keep on getting distracted."
"Why?"
"I don't know. I just zone out and sometimes I don't even know I'm doing it."
"Speaking of cases, they need you on one." He said. I groaned.
"Can't they ask someone else?" He shook his head.
"No, because they know that this is a case no one else can crack, other than the best detective in town," he said with a wink.
"Are you working on it as well?" Fitz nodded.
"Yup."
"Where is it?"
"Niagara Cave. Lady found a body in the river, we have to check it out," I nodded, grabbed my things and my cup of coffee and followed Fitz out of the building, to the car, and to the crime scene. We found caution tape surrounding the area and several other police cars and left the car, going underneath the tape. An officer stopped us before going deeper into the scene.
"Who are you?"
"Detective Foster and Detective Vacker." We showed her our badges for evidence and she nodded. We went inside the cave finding a lady being interviewed by an officer and others surrounding what I expected was the body.
"What's happening?" I asked. Everyone spread apart as Fitz and I went to inspect it. From the look of it, it was a lady, her hair and her clothes wet. She had black hair that was brought up in a ponytail, her skin color tan, and her shoes a pair of white sneakers. She wore black leggings and wore a white tank top. On her wrist I found an AppleWatch. Her skin was also infected with several scratches and blood stained on her skin.
"What happened here?" Fitz asked.
"We aren't sure. We have a few perspectives but aren't 100% sure yet," One of the officers said. I got up and walked to the little interview that was happening in the middle of the cave.
"I've got it from here," the man nodded and stood up.
"Hello, I'm detective Sophie, and I'm here to ask you a few questions about this whole thing," the woman nodded and I brought out my notepad and a pen.
"Mind telling me your name?"
"Rose Merr," she said. I quickly wrote it down.
"And how did you find the body?"
"I was going on a small hike and had decided to take a look inside. I walked to the river and found something weird in the water. It was a piece of cloth that was floating on the surface. I grabbed a stick and once I got a hold of it I dragged it towards me. Once I was bringing it back I thought it had been a bit heavy for a small cloth. And then I realized, it was a body. I didn't know what to do and I panicked and the body went back in the water. I called the authorities and I continued being interviewed by several officers." I nodded.
"Did you ever have a look at the woman?" Rose nodded.
"Was it someone you may have recognized?" Rose shook her head. After a few minutes of silence she spoke again.
