Aditi didn't feel that happy in years. She was enjoying her life. She knew, Dhon had a big impact on her life. He was her pillar. He was by her side when everyone decided to not listen to her. He was there in her hardest times. But, in the last few years, their relationship got a bit rusty. Dhon didn't get the time to call her, sometimes she ended up texting him, writing,
"Bohut monot porise o toloi. Gusi aah na."
He would reply, after hours,
"Sinta kio koriso, moi xodai asu tor kaxot."
Even when they were far, his small texts made her feel protected and cared. That was Dhon dada for her.
It had been two weeks since she got home. Within those weeks, Dhon's marriage proposal was taken to Jurita's house. The family was well established, had high values. They talked about going to her house, when Dhon would come home next time. Aditi talked to Jurita for a few times, always ending up talking for hours. She loved Jurita, she made her feel like her own sister. Dhon and Aditi was leaving the next day. It was a bit sad for Aditi. She didn't want to face the world, for sometime more. She wanted to be in her brother's arms. She wanted to eat more meals made by her ma and borma. She wanted to ask her deta to bring more things from the market for herself. She wanted to go to the namghor and pray there. Her heart was still in Jorhat, no matter how big city she travelled to. She wanted to be protected by everyone, and not fight with the world by herself.
That was all she wanted. But she had no other option. She had work and it had to be done. Even though, she tried to do most of the work at home, but she was still called over and over again to the office. Arohan called her almost everyday, asking how she was. Every time he would call, her heart would be filled with guilt. But she would courageously hide it from him and talk normally like before. She would ask him about his mother and how she was. But, she was not happy, to be talking to him like that.
Somewhere, somehow, even Arohan felt her change of behaviour. Although she thought he never knew about her situation, but he sensed it. He sensed something was wrong. He would tell on the phone,
"Tumi ahar pisot tumar logot bohut kotha ase."
She didn't knew, the things he would be asking her would be the most difficult to answer.
Rohan texted her the first day, asking her if she reached her house safely. That was it. He never texted her again. She would write to him
"Bhale asa ne?"
to which he would reply,
"Hm Asu diya."
That was pretty much what was happening in between. In the happiness she was enjoying these days, a sense of ache in her heart never left her way. Her heart smiled, with a sense of heaviness surrounding her heart. She wanted him to talk to her, about the most random thing in the world, it didn't matter for her. She just wanted to talk to him.
Two days before leaving Jorhat, Aditi called Rohan. The first time, the call went unanswered. She again tried. After almost 4 rings, Rohan picked up the call.
"Hello."
"Hi."
Aditi said nervously,
"Hi?"
Rohan was a bit surprised, but he didn't want to show it.
"Ki hoise tumar? Mor khobor o nulua, phone o nokora."
Rohan stayed silent for a moment. Finally, he said,
"Kam nasil karone."
"Ki kam nasil huh? Etiya amar bond tu mane kamot he limited?"
