Chapter 8: One Year Timeskip!

Everyone was extremely worried for Arthur. Zenith was the most worried out of everyone when she first saw Arthur walking inside the house with tears in his eyes and was completely unresponsive to her words. Paul took to drinking at night as this was his only method of coping up with the situation he was in.

After hearing what happened, Zenith was naturally angry at Paul for it but at the same time she was understanding. Among the family, Zenith had always been the most rational out of everyone and no matter what the situation she would hear both sides while at the same time understanding other people.

Many would call Paul a scum and a shitty father for the way he had handled the situation and it's true that Paul did handle the situation poorly as his own method of discipline was wrong but Paul was misunderstood in this situation.

Paul was a man in his early 20s making him relatively young. He is struggling at being a father of those two geniuses and prodigies and that made him feel inadequate as a father because he felt like he couldn't teach them anything or be a proper father to them since they were faultless.

So when he heard about what Arthur and Rudeus did, he felt happy inside since he can act as a father to those two. Paul wanted to be selfish, he did want to be a father and teach those two valuable life lessons because at this rate, they will grow, get married but yet he wouldn't feel fulfillment since he didn't teach them anything.

Paul also wanted to be a good father, unlike his own father whom he had cut ties with due to how strict and stern he was on him and how much pressure he had put on him given that he was the oldest of his siblings and as such was naturally the next head of the Notos Greyrat family.

This made Paul quite afraid that he may have driven a wedge in the family dynamics because of his actions. Zenith comforted him for a while but at one point she took to trying to talk to Arthur and apparently was allowed.

The next day, Arthur came out having calmed down greatly after his talk with his mother Zenith. It was then that Paul took to once more apologized for his action the previous day.

"I'm sorry, Art. I've jumped to a quick conclusion, your father is ashamed of what he did!" Said Paul as he bowed his head on the table, throwing away his pride.

"I-I forgive you. This was simply bad communication on our part, I should have started on the bullying topic instead of drawing out the conversation like this and antagonizing you." Said Arthur as he bowed his head as well.

He could have easily said something like 'They were bullies' or 'Law's kid was being bullied' which is enough to prevent his father from interrupting him and probably would have gotten Paul to listen.

"No. What I did was unwarranted, I should have first heard both sides of the story and you didn't do wrong. I should have had a little bit more faith in you so you have no reason to apologize to me!" said Paul, his apology was quite genuine.

"O-okay, just be careful next time and hear us out before you do that again." Said Arthur feeling more calmer at the moment while Paul smiled as in his own way, he was trying to ease the atmosphere in the room.
