Miles's POV

I just yelled at my best friend.
Am I stupid?

I just shouted at Gwen.

My best friend.

My childhood friend.

My lo – crush.

I'm clearly going crazy.

And the worst part?

It was for no reason.

I was just so nervous and flustered that my mouth spoke before my brain thought, and it showed – because now I was standing in the middle of the hallway like an idiot, which I already was.

People gave me rude and questioning stares as they passed by me, probably wondering what the hell is wrong with this guy.

I know because that's what I was asking myself.

I was about to run after her before I heard the bell ring, and I winced.
Great.

I was going to have to go through the whole day knowing full well that Gwen was mad at me – and with these tight, short pants. Which were garnering a lot of unwanted attention from everyone.

'Nice pants, Morales!'

'Those look a little...tight on you...'

'Nothing.' I groaned, moving my hands down my face.

'I heard you yelled at Gwen this morning.'

'You and everyone else in the school.' I side-eyed him skeptically.

'Sorry.'

There was silence for a moment.

'You know; your pants are too tight- '

'I know.'

He laughed awkwardly and came up next to me, resting his hands on the windowsill. He looked at me again, resting his chin on his palm.

'You know we're missing class, right?' He said with a half-smile forming on his face.

'Yep.'

'Are you going to do anything about it?'
'Nope.'

'Okay.' He bumped my shoulder lightly, and we stayed quiet for a few minutes. Chilling with Ganke was very peaceful, and comforting. He was my second-best friend, right after Gwen – and he always knew what to do when I was down.

He just...gets me.
'Come on. Let's go.' He nudged me again.

'Fine...'

As I stood up straight and stretched, somehow, I tripped over my shoelaces, banged my lip on the sharp windowsill...
And tripped out the window.

'AH!'

I landed with both feet on the wall, facing downwards, with blood dripping off my lip.
