Gwen's POV

Two weeks later...

I landed on the top of a thirteen-story apartment, which gave me a gorgeous view of the rising city. It was early morning, and the sun was peeking over the roofs of the nearby premises as it gently nudged the citizens of Brooklyn awake. Many people were already awake, yet the roads weren't as busy as they would be in the next hour or two.

I let the cool, crisp morning air wash over me, which, would normally, immediately put me in a bad mood, as I hate the mornings.

But, I'd come to love them over the past two weeks. A lot has changed about me.

After the whole Vulture ordeal, my head did deflate quite a bit. I was still confident, just not cocky. I had grown as both a person and as Spider-Woman because fighting villains almost every day of the week required me to harden up - and fast.

I also continued patrolling around town, as you could never be too safe. There was always some wannabe criminal who thought they were some big shot if they simply got their hands on a gun, or some slightly more powerful robbers breaking into a bank for some easy money.

My point is that there was a lot more crime in this city than I realized, and that was simply too much for someone as inexperienced as me to fight on my own.

Luckily, though, I wasn't on my own - I was working with Spider-Man.

Which reminded me - where was he?

We were supposed to meet up at this specific spot today...

I was lost in thought and was completely unaware of the presence lurking behind me...

Just waiting for the right time to pounce.

My spider senses didn't go off until it was too late.

"Boo!"

"Ah!"

Reacting quickly, I whirled around and threw a vicious punch at the attacker - which I quickly regretted as my 'attacker' was none other than Spider-Man.

I went through so many emotions at once - shock, confusion, disappointment...and strangely enough...elation.

This guy...

"Oh my gosh! Are you okay?" I covered my mouth with my hands and the lenses of my mask widened.

"Ow!" He did the same actions as I did, bending over and squeezing his eyes shut.

"I am so sorry!" I said, going over to him and placing a hand on his shoulder.

"It's alright..." He stood up straight, lifted his mask, and spat out blood.

"Damn, if I knew you hit that hard, I would never have scared you."

"Hahaha..." My face heated up under my mask in embarrassment.

I cleared my throat. "So, when did you get here, Spider-Man?"

He shrugged. "Only a few minutes before you did. That gave me time to come up with the idea to scare you...which didn't go well."

"Clearly," I muttered.

There was an awkward pause before continuing.

"So...you ready to go on patrol?"

"Yeah."

"Cool."
