Surprise!

Chapter 10

Reba left for a doctors appointment that afternoon, she was so excited to see the baby, and Narvel was alone at the house. he decided to start adjusting his room to fit Reba's needs.

Narvel stood in the middle of his room and decided what to do. He finally came up with the idea to get a bigger bed and move his bed away from the window so the sun wouldn't wake her up

Reba got to the doctors and waited to be called. She bounced her knee as she waited nervously, she always felt more at ease when Narvel was there to help her. She didn't really know why he didn't come, all he said was that he had something to do and he would make up for it later.

She rubbed her belly think about what was so important. She was sure that it couldn't have been more important than their baby. She started to feel tears welling in her eyes. She knew he wouldn't hurt her on purpose.

Reba called him, just so she could talk to him. "Hello?" He was breathing heavily. "Hi baby, you alright?" She asked concerned. "Yea, I'm okay. I just lifted something heavy." He explained. "Oh, I wish you were here." She said hoping he would change his mind and come to the appointment. "Baby I have a surprise for you that I'm working on, I'm making up for it." He said. "But still." She said. "I'm on my way.".He told her. "Thank you. I love you." She smiled. "I love you too." He said and drove to the doctors office.

Reba was still in the waiting area, bouncing her knee nervously.He saw her leg shaking and walked to her, Narvel sat beside her and placed his hand on her leg.

"Hi baby." She smiled. "Hey." He kissed her cheek, She smiled and relaxed a little bit. "Don't go in my room when we get home, I didn't finish the surprise." He said. "But I wanna take a nap." She whined. "We have a couch." He sassed. She gave him the death glare..."You can't go in our room." He told her."Fine." She huffed. "I already called my dad to bring home the major part of it." Narvel told her. Reba nodded and grabbed his hand, Narvel smiled and kissed her hand. Reba smiled over at him.

"Are you excited?" She squeezed his hand and smiled wide. "I don't know, I mean I am getting to see my baby?" He shrugged sarcastically. Reba giggled and hit his shoulder playfully.

Back at home Narvel's dad was setting up Reba and Narvel's bed exactly where Narvel told him too. 'Ive never seen him this in love with someone or something.' Mr. Blackstock thought as he set up the bed, Narvel picked it out, it was the best one he could find....and the most expensive. Narvel paid for it with his own money.Mr blackstock was so proud of the man that Narvel was becoming.

Back in the doctors office the nurse called them back to the ultrasound room. Narvel took Reba's hand and sat beside her in the chair beside the table in the ultrasound room.

He looked over at Reba...she was glowing. He could barely see her bump through her shirt, her hair was getting longer, and her face looked rounder. Rebs caught him staring at her "Do I have something on my face?" She covered her mouth with her hand just in case. "No no no, you're just so beautiful." He cooed over her. Reba blushed and looked down "I'm gaining so much weight though." Narvel's heart broke that she didn't think she was beautiful. "You're pregnant, it's normal. That means that you're doing a great job of taking care of the baby." Narvel tried to make her feel better.

The doctor walked in "I have some news...."
