Surprise!

Chapter twelve

The couple had slept better than they have in a long time. Reba's back didn't hurt as bad and Narvel didn't have to sneak onto the couch! Yay!

Reba had definitely grown over the past week...and so had her appetite. Narvel was amazed by her weird cravings, they were pretty weird,like almonds with mustard, Pickles covered in ice cream, and syrup on tomatoes, yuck!

Reba was enjoying another one of her weird snacks when her phone started to ring...it was her sister, Alice. They hadn't spoken since she told them that she was pregnant. "H-hello?" Reba answered nervously "Hey Reba, I was wondering if you'd like to join me and Susie for lunch this afternoon?" Alice asked. "Um yea I'd love you." Reba relaxed a little, knowing that she wasn't in for a big lecture. "Awesome, thanks and we'll see you later" Alice hung up. Reba smiled at the thought of getting to see her sisters, she was excited!

Reba walked into Narvel's room, he was playing video games...surprising, right? "Hey, just to let you know, I'm going for lunch with Alice and Susie" Reba informed him as he paused his video game. "Cool, that'll be good for you, I know you miss them" he smiled sadly. "Yea I do." she replied, trying not to get emotional. Narvel could tell "Oh honey come here" he stood up and wrapped his arms around her. She started crying into his chest and squeaked out "I miss them so much!" "I know you do darlin." he rubbed her back, trying to get her to calm down. "but don't get yourself worked up, you're getting to see them today and that's something to be happy about, right?" He smiled as he wiped her tears away for her. Reba smiled and nodded "Right." she hugged him, he always knew what to say to make her feel better. That's why she knew that he was going to be a great dad to their baby.

Narvel held Reba close and felt tapping against his stomach. Reba pulled away and giggled "I think they like it when we are close", Narvel smiled widely and nodded in agreement "You're not alone, I like it to." he 'whispered' to her stomach. Reba laughed and hit his shoulder "Ouch!" He played hurt. "Are you really complaining about being in pain?" She smiled "Yes." Narvel pouted. "Suck it up because when you are in the delivery room you'll see what pain looks like." Reba said. Narvel chuckled and shook his head "Thanks for that image." He said sarcastically. "You're welcome." she replied and walked I to their closet to find something to wear.

Reba settled on yoga pants and a light blue maternity shirt that Gloria bought for her. Both of their parents had been so supportive and loving towards them, they knew that Reba and Narvel were scared out of their minds.

Reba grabbed Narvel's car keys and some money for her food. Reba kissed him one last time and walked out to the car. Once she was settled in, she drove to the restaurant where her sisters were waiting excitedly.

When she got in the restaurant, Reba immediately saw her sisters "Alice! Susie!" She squealed, they both stood up and hugged her. "Reba you are glowing." Alice cooed as she looked her sister from head to toe. "Some one else is here to see you" Susie said... Pake walked in.
