Narvel didn't know what to say, for the first time he was speechless; Reba was a saint in his eyes. He cheated on her yet she forgave him, knowing that he could easily do it again.

Right now, his main concern was getting her to the hospital before something happened to the baby; it would be his fault...

"How are you feeling?" he asked, clearing his throat, not even feeling worthy enough to look her in the eye. Narvel appeared to be so nervous and uncomfortable in her presence, yet there was a glint of relief in his eye, probably from the fact that she gave him a second chance to get it right.

"I've been better," Reba replied quietly, gently stroking her bump.

"Anymore pain? Do you still feel sick?" questioned Narvel, wanting to make sure so he could prepare to make an emergency stop on the side of the road.

"There's some small cramping, but the nausea passed," she answered, knowing that the cramping was not a normal thing to occur.

"We'll get you both checked out in a fee minutes, we're almost there," he explained, wanting to minimize her fear, as well as his own.

The car ride kept churning in their minds, how long would there conversations always be short and awkward? Or would she get tired of working things out and just leave him?

In the waiting area, Narvel sat impatiently, angry over the fact that the doctor wouldn't see Reba immediately because there was no bleeding.

"Oh, so our baby has to be visibly in trouble for them to do something?!" he ranted to Reba, not even trying to remain calm.

Chewing off his last finger nail, Narvel jumped up to escort Reba to the examination room when her name was called.

"I can walk," Reba protested when he grabbed her at carefully  to assure himself she didn't need assistance.

"I just okay, sorry," Narvel gently released her, not sure if she was mad or independent.

Of course, right now he didn't say much and neither did she. They were both way too worried and exhausted-they couldn't argue anymore. Right now they just needed to know their baby was okay. He walked behind her at a pretty decent distance down the hallway then the doctor led them into a small room.

"Alright miss, just sit up on the chair and lay back. We'll have to start out with an ultrasound. Can you fill me in on why you're here exactly?" Reba took a deep breath then nodded as she laid back a bit in the chair. Narvel hung back a little against the door after he'd shut it. He wanted nothing more then to stand beside her and hold her hand but he felt that wouldn't really be appreciated. Reba began talking to the doctor.

"Me and my boyfriend got into a really bad argument, I got really worked up, I stormed out and got into a fight, I threw things as well as fell a few times." She took a deep breath, realizing the consequences of her actions "I got sick and threw up, and that's when the craning started." Reba finished explaining.

The doctor slowly stopped. No expression on her face. "Doctor, what is it?" Narvel asked, finally stepping over from the door placing his hands on Reba's shoulders. The doctor looked from him to Reba. She stayed quiet for a moment before finally speaking. "Let's just.. stay positive-and get to this ultrasound okay? That's all we can do right now.." She then got back to setting everything up. Reba didn't say a word. She had gotten the drift of what the doctor was worried about and she was scared to death. She had felt Narvel place his hands on her shoulders and decided not to say anything-she didn't really want to either, no matter how mad she wanted to be, she needed him right now.

He leaned over, his mouth millimeters from her ear "I'm here, whatever happens, I'm right here." He gave her shoulders a light squeeze.

The doctor turned the screen away from their view...just in case something had indeed happened. Narvel knew the drill and moved beside her, sliding her shirt up over her stomach, then moving back up to hold her shoulders again. All this was taking place while the doctor got situated and started prepping for the operation. They both held their breath and waited for the moment of truth.
