Hanni's POV
A few days were left before our year-end prom, and I still had not picked my dress.
There were several choices right in front of me, each suiting me in a different way, making it impossible to decide.
"I think this pink one suits you" Sunoo said, holding it up beside me.
"That's the least I want" I replied but glanced at it for the third time. Maybe... maybe I should have considered it.
"Trust me, it does suit you well" he assured me with a smile.
"I'm sure Danielle, Lily, and Bae already picked their dresses" I said, slipping it on one last time.
"Woah, Hanni. You look beautiful" Sunoo said, his eyes almost disappearing with his grin.
I had met him about a month ago, I thought. He was fun to be with, feminine yet still strikingly handsome. We had been considering adding him to our circle since he was bullied because of stereotypes.
I saw nothing wrong with his actions or the way he dressed. If anything, I knew he had a good heart.
"I'll get going, Hanni. Bye" Sunoo said, turning to leave.
"Bye. Take care"
My stomach had been growling for the past few minutes. I was stuck between ordering food, cooking, or just buying something from the convenience store. The last option won; it had been so long since I had eaten convenience store food.
I grabbed ramyeon, a drink, and dumplings. The combo I had been craving.
I took a corner seat, perfectly facing the side window. I was just about to eat when a voice interrupted.
"You should eat healthier"
My mood instantly soured.
"Leave me alone, Jinni" I said, continuing with my meal.
"I know what's bothering you these days" she said, clearly trying to get my attention.
"Minji" She smirked.
"Can you shut up?" I snapped.
"She's not attending our practice anymore. I wonder where she is."
"Why do you have to bring her up?" I asked, irritation building.
"Because she's dumb."
I could not believe she would say that about her own friend.
"From what I remember, she helped you. She told me you wanted to date me, yet instead of telling me yourself, you went through her. Are you that afraid of rejection a thousand times?" I fired back.
"I just tested her, to see if she liked you too. But I guess it's a no. She relied on my lies instead of being truthful. But yeah, I shouldn't have assumed she liked you too. And I already moved on from you, easy" Jinni replied.
"That's good then, because you won't be receiving any sympathy or affection from me" I said, gulping down the remaining ramyeon soup. Yummy.
"Okay, I won't insist for now. But I'll do anything for you to forgive me" she said, sounding almost sincere. Almost enough to make me believe her.
"You'll do anything?" I repeated, and she nodded.
"I have a question." This had been nagging me for days; it was just curiosity, nothing more.
"Why didn't Minji date Sullyoon? I thought they liked each other" I asked, wondering if I sounded too obvious.
"I don't know. She just said she liked someone from her past and it's not Sullyoon."
