tw: brief mentions of sexual assault, not in detail, but it is mentioned!

( February 13th, 2022. )

Caitlin Clark, while not wanting to leave Lily's side for a second, has obligations to basketball. The past four days had been rough, the affects of what happened hitting the blonde full force.

She wasn't a professional, but she knew that Lily had simply not processed what happened the first night. The second night was worse, as Lily had been woken up by a nightmare, and sobbed the entire night. Caitlin didn't care that it woke her up from her sleep, the only thing she wants is for Lily to be okay, and if that requires her to calm her to sleep after a nightmare, she would do it without hesitation.

Which, leads her to her current situation, standing in front of Lily with her arms crossed. "Lily, I don't want you to be alone. Emma said that she has no problem with coming over while I'm gone."

Lily doesn't look convinced, if anything she looks even more put off. "What if she doesn't want to see me? I mean, it must've been traumatizing for her too. I don't want her to blame herself."

At her words, her stern resolve softens immediately. "Lils, trust me, she blames nobody but that dick. If anything, she and the girls just want to know if you're alright."

None of the girls had seen her since the incident, Lily refusing to see anyone but Caitlin. It wasn't the best idea, which she knew, but the embarrassment that she felt was just too much to face anyone but the girl in front of her.

They still hadn't talked about what happened, they've tried, but every time, Lily ends up sobbing in Caitlin's arms again. The only reason she doesn't look like she just went through a world war is because she's been showering everyday, trying to clean every part of her body that she might've touched. Of course, Caitlin sits on the toilet patiently, talking to her in order to get her mind off of him.

The blonde nods, closing her eyes and throwing her head back on one of Caitlin's pillows. "Okay," she relents while opening her eyes, "I'll see her."

Caitlin smiles softly at her, coming up to her side of her bed to brush the flyaways of her messy bun back. "Are you sure you're okay with me telling Coach Bluder what happened?"

Lily hesitates for a second, briefly leaning into her touch. "Yeah, I'm sure."

She senses the hesitation, tilting her head to the side. "The plan will work, trust me Lily."

The plan, something that they've been talking about between themselves. While talking about the situation was off the table, Lily immediately started planning on how to expose Connor for his actions. The first course of action was, of course, telling Lisa Bluder. She didn't coach the men's basketball team, that much was true, but they'd all be fools to say that she didn't have as much influence as Fran McCaffery. He might've been the coach of a mediocre basketball team, but Lisa was the better coach between the two. They couldn't afford to lose her, while losing the senior McCaffery wouldn't be that big of a deal.

An attempted sexual assault allegation wasn't something that the University of Iowa would want to have on their record, much less the perpetrator being a coaches son. Part of Lily felt guilty, but the other part of her knew that Connor must've learnt his behaviour from somewhere, and if she was hitting two birds with one stone, so be it.
