We open up at a suburban inner city block of council housing. We see various cars parked along the street, and various run-down homes where neighbours prepare to go to their jobs or work on their routine housekeeping such as taking the bins out or gardening. The BBC logo fades in and out. We see two children rushing out of a house together, laughing and playing together. They bolt out from their garden and run around the street playing tag.
As they run about with each other, the two children Jonathan and Trevor play in the street where an oncoming car comes down the street, not expecting two children to run out in front of them. The car honks it's horn, alerting the children to step away and avoid the oncoming vehicle. They watch the car go past with the angered motorist inside. The children see the car go.
Jonathan:
Well, sorry.
Trevor tags Jonathan.
Trevor:
It!
He then runs down the street in the middle of the road, acting as if he and his friends owned it. Jonathan charges down the road after his friend.
Jonathan:
I'm gonna get you! Wait till I get you!
We hear them continuing to laugh as they rush down the street. We see two sisters, Charlotte and Dawn, approach up to the boys chasing one another. Charlotte is the elder and more responsible child compared to Dawn. Trevor bolts past the girls, whereas Jonathan slows down to talk to the girls.
Charlotte:
Hi Jonathan.
Jonathan:
Hi guys.
Charlotte:
What are you and Trevor doing? Playing it again?
Jonathan:
Yeah. I'm gonna get him. Then I have to run back home and keep myself locked away from him. We're playing swap-sees. So it's infinite and will go on forever.
Trevor stops running and turns back to see where Jonathan is at.
Trevor:
Come on! You getting me?
Dawn:
Can we play?
Jonathan:
Charlotte and Dawn wanna play. Do you think we can do it all as a big team game together?
Trevor:
Why don't you ask them. Whilst you're at it, why don't you ask Charlotte out.
Jonathan:
I'm gonna get you, you stupid little...
Jonathan keeps chasing Trevor. The girls watch the boys quickly disappear off. We continue to see the unsupervised boys run down the street, before they enter into a disused rubbish heap with junk and scrap scattered about. We see Trevor quickly run down paths and streets to quickly escape from Jonathan and zooming past the rubbish heap. Eventually, we see the worn out Jonathan breathing heavily and walking to find Trevor.
Trevor? Trevor? Where are you? We shouldn't be playing this far. Trevor?
He passes along the rubbish dump.
You in here?
Jonathan carefully goes in.
We shouldn't be in these kinda places.
He finds a disused warehouse at the back of the dump, furthest away from the lane. John looks about but sees no sign of his friend.
Wait till I find you out.
He inspects the warehouse.
Hey? Trevor? You hiding behind here? Trevor?
Jonathan then looks around the warehouse, and then sees an underground tunnel that is lead through a black, gloomy tunnel with cob webs covered over it. A spherical ball is placed behind the warehouse, catching Jonathan's attention.
This isn't hide and seek we are supposed to be playing, remember?
He then cautiously enters into the eerie tunnel, brushing away the chilling cob webs. Jonathan inspects the way through, hearing some machinery down the way of the tunnel.
You through here, Trevor? This isn't a safe place to be in. Trevor?
The boy continues further, coming into an open space where the passage is now only a small beam of light behind him. The machinery and engineering sounds with computerised Cyber technology becomes gradually louder, frightening the boy. He observes his surroundings more closely again and is freaked out from what he witnesses. A silver figure slowly moves behind him.
I don't like this. I'm heading back, Trevor. You stay down here if you want to. I'm not getting busted being here.
The Cyberman stomps from behind him. The boy feels the looming shadow of the Cyberman behind him and turns around. We see the sight of the gigantic Cyberman from the eye view of the boy, terrorizing him as it comes to grab him. Jonathan screams...
