The military round up their forces to the street where the Cyberman crashes through. It continues damaging and smashing up objects and devices in it's way. The Major General, Colonel, Captain, and Fenneck all watch. In the far distance, away from the action, Steve, and the children watch the army take on the Cyberman. They close in with each other, huddling like a family. The Cyberman continues to stomp through. A voice calls out from around him.
Doctor:
Oi! Over here, CyberDale!
The Cyberman looks around. The Doctor then emerges from the shadows.
Major General Harrow:
I hope he knows what he is doing.
We see the soldiers armed and ready to attack the Cyberman if the Doctor is threatened by it.
What have I said? What will you gain from all this? Your race is dead. Your home planet a burnt cinder, crumbling into billions upon billions of rocks. You serve no function. You have no friends. No future. No hope. No survival.
Cyberman 1:
THE CYBERMEN WERE DESTINED TO SURVIVE! HOW I AM IS THE ONLY OPTION LEFT FOR EVERYONE ELSE!
Doctor:
How? You can't turn anyone else into Cybermen? Kill everything else, then you really will be left all on your own, lonely man.
Cyberman 1:
YOU HAVE NO IDEA, DOCTOR! HOW CAN YOU SEE HOW I FEEL!
Doctor:
Believe me, I do. I have seen my people become extinct. And I won't let that happen again to the Cybermen, if you will help.
Cyberman 1:
THE CYBERMEN WILL SURVIVE! WE WILL SURVIVE!
Doctor:
Don't let me do this to you. One good slab of gold into your chest units, and that's it for you. The Cybermen will have been wiped out.
The Doctor holds his Sonic Screwdriver.
Cyberman 1:
WITH A SIMPLE SONIC DEVICE!
Doctor:
Remodified. Reproducing the elements of gold.
Cyberman 1:
MAN VERSES MACHINE! BONE VERSUES METAL!
Doctor:
I am no ordinary man.
Cyberman 1:
YOU WOULD NEVER!
Doctor:
I set on a quest, Dale. Your species are dead. But not you as well.
The Cyberman stomps to him to try and grab the Doctor, but the Doctor moves back. Dale breaks through the rubble around him that would trip him up if he was a human.
Major General Harrow:
FIRE!
BAM! BAM! BAM! Bullets shoot at the Cyberman, slowing him down.
Doctor:
No, don't shoot at him!
The Cyberman is beginning to become disorientated. Dale screams as more bullets keep shooting at him. The Doctor takes his chance and runs to the Cyberman.
Major General Harrow:
Hold your fire!
The Doctor attempts to ram the Sonic Screwdriver into the chest unit of the Cyberman, but the Cyberman recovers. The Cyberman takes on the Doctor, grabbing his arms and crushing them, trying to make the Doctor drop the Sonic Screwdriver. The Doctor fights back and is brought to his knees. The soldiers fire back at the Cyberman, distracting it and allowing the Doctor to place the Sonic Screwdriver into the chest unit. The Cyberman screams in agony, but as the firing stops, the Cyberman and the Doctor fall together onto the ground. The Cyberman recovers, and wrestles the Doctor to the ground, having dropped his Sonic Screwdriver and begins crushing him.
Dawn:
Can't they do anything, it's hurting him?
The soldiers watch.
Fenneck:
Sir, it's killing him.
Major General Harrow:
We shoot, we may hit him.
The Cyberman crushes the Doctor down, Dale enjoying torturing the Doctor.
Cyberman 1:
THIS IS FOR MAKING A FOOL OUT OF ME! IN FRONT OF THOSE KIDS! NOW FOR TURNING ME INTO A MONSTER!
The Doctor continues struggling but is able to finally reach for the Sonic Screwdriver in his hand. The Cyberman tries to make him drop it again.
DROP IT! DROP IT!
Major General Harrow:
Soldiers, with me! Move! Move!
The soldiers run in after the Cyberman to help the Doctor. As the Doctor's arms are being crushed, the soldiers get part of the wreckage left by the Cyberman and smash it over the head of the Cyberman. Dale screams in agony. The Doctor, recovering his arms back, quickly grabs the Sonic Screwdriver and rams it into the chest unit of the Cyberman.
Cyberman 1:
NO!
There is a terrific, electrified sound as Dale screams in terrible agony. The children turn away as we see the Cyberman die. It collapses onto the ground with a huge crash of metal. BANG! The Doctor takes the Sonic Screwdriver out of the chest unit, as if it activated like a knife.
Colonel Fielder:
It's dead now, isn't it?
Doctor:
Yeah. Thanks for that.
Fenneck:
The last of it's kind. Now it is destroyed.
We look down at the Cyberman – the last of its species, now destroyed.
Doctor:
The last of the Cybermen. Completely extinct now.
Fenneck:
It's a shame it had to be this way. It was murder. A whole alien civilisation. Ready to reform and reshape humanity. To strength us as humans. Cyber technology. It could have made us immortal. Cure illnesses. Impurities and imperfections.
Major General Harrow:
And now they are extinct.
Fenneck:
Poor man. A tragedy. He remained creative and irrational. But with an intelligence unmatched to any of us. What study we have.
Major General Harrow:
And what a mess to clear up. This will be far too much for us. Some old friends can help us out.
Fenneck:
He is not the only one who says he is the last of his kind. That Doctor...
They look up to where he has gone.
Major General Harrow:
Now where did he disappear off to?
The Doctor was missing...
