We see the troops aiming their weapons at the scrapyard, before we cut to the Cybermen below ground.

Cyberman 1:

LEADER! INCREASED ACTIVITY OF MOBILE UNITS OUTSIDE HEADQUARTERS!

Cyber Leader:

THEN WE SHALL BEGIN TO DISPERSE THEIR UNITS! ACTIVATE THE HOMING MINES! OUR PLANS MUST NOW ADVANCE! AND WE WILL TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE HUMANS!

The army maintain vigilant, aiming their bazookas, guns, and missile canons at the scrapyard. The children watch from afar.

Bella:

Why can't they just go in and find her.

Steve:

They will. We just have to be patient, Bella.

We see Fenneck use a laptop to extract information about the junkyard, such as the x-ray to detect any signs of life inside.

Captain Herring:

The immediate area within one thousand yards have been cordoned off. Martial law has been implemented, and the police are cooperating with the army.

Colonel Fielder:

Well done, Captain.

Major General Harrow:

What are the chances of us entering the premises now?

Fenneck:

I read no life signs, Major General.

Doctor:

As military Cyber operator Fenneck, you would be fascinated to learn the principles and machinery they use on their devices. A thousand years ahead of your time and more.

Major General Harrow:

A thousand years ahead of your time and more? What are you saying?

Doctor:

The Cybermen had wanted to live for ever and became the ever-living dead. Once their people started dying out, they prolonged their lives with relentless surgical mania until they eradicated their souls. It's somewhere hard to pin down where they took it from.

We then hear the bleeping of an active homing mine in the scrapyard. The Major General takes his pistol out, as does the Colonel and Captain, and aim their weapons at the scrapyard. The Doctor takes his Sonic Screwdriver out and prepares to activate it.

Major General Harrow:

Hold your fire. Wait for the target.

Fenneck:

Destroying the homing device will probably create a localised explosion within the area.

Doctor:

There's no chance you would get one then. You'll need a full scale forensic team to study the devices. I reckon this is way out of the hands of the general military. Contact the members of the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce who are already equipped in dealing with Cybermen.

Major General Harrow:

Doctor, I hardly think this is the time to call in UNIT over some tin pot robots.

Fenneck:

We are perfectly capable in handling this, I tell you.

Major General Harrow:

You might be our best lead in understanding what we are tackling, Doctor. But the army can deal with it, I assure you.

The Doctor rolls his eyes.
