I was locked away for almost a month. I had lost a significant amount of weight, making it harder for me to find clothes that actually fit.
I decided this morning that I would not rot away in my room, which led me to take a shower, charging my phone, and now struggling to find something to wear.
After trying on shirts that were now too baggy, pants that were too loose, and a few dresses that I had. were loose in all the wrong places, I sighed in frustration.
I turned on my phone to see the dozens of texts and calls from Hunter roll in. I paused in the middle of telling her that I was ok when Valons texts had finally come through.
"One text or call, and I'm there."
"I shouldn't have brought you back, I don't know what the hell I was thinking. I wouldn't have brought you back if I knew I wasn't able to see you again. I just wanted you to come to me on your own terms. I didn't just want to rip you away from the only thing you have ever known, even if it was hurting you. There was a chance you'd only stray further away from me, and I didn't want to scare you away."
"Please tell me you're ok."
"If I don't see you by your birthday, I'm breaking down that Damn door. I was gonna go to your house, but Hunter convinced me to let her go instead. Dana told her that you were sick. I don't know if that's true but I need to see you, sick or not. I need to make sure you're ok."
"I need to see the one person that brings light into my dark world,"
Tears rolled down my face. He didn't know, but there were days when I just wished I could pick up my phone and ask him to take me far away. Sometimes, just to simply talk. Anything to take me away, even if it was just for was second.
I wanted to hear his voice so bad, but I never did anything about it. But today would be different.
Today, I would get whatever I wanted. It was my birthday, after all.
"I'm sorry I haven't been answering. Can you bring me one of your dresses and meet me at my house in 15 minutes and I'll explain everything?"
"Of course! I need to know what the hell is going on. I'll see you soon."
"Thank you," I replied.
"Oh and Hunter?" I sent it soon after my last text after having another thought.
"Yea?"
"Nothing too revealing, please."
"Don't worry." She replied.
Knowing Hunter, it will have to be at least a little showy.
"Oh, and May?"
"?" I replied.
"Happy Birthday to the best friend a girl could have."
She knew I hated my birthday, so she never expected a reply back, but like I said, today was different.
"Thank you Hunter," I replied as a tear slipped out, but I quickly swiped it away.
I sent Valon a similar text. Not waiting for a reply, I put my phone in my pajamas pocket, which made a clack noise against the lighter that sat in there.
I decided to leave my hair curly. I pulled half of it away from my face and left a few strands to frame it.
I kept my makeup simple, a little lip gloss and mascara. I didn't want Dana to become suspicious, plus I didn't normally wear much anyway.
I slipped on my sandals, and now I just had to pray that my door was unlocked and somehow attempt to convince Dana to let me out on the one day I was under no circumstances allowed to leave.
