"Everything," I finally answered. Mentally facepalming myself for saying too much, yet nothing at all.

He furrowed his brows and began to analyze me again. He looked like he wanted to ask me something else but he just stood there staring at me, almost as if he was receiving all the answers without having to ask. It's one of the many reasons why I hated eye contact. It's too intimate. Other than it being plainly awkward, It felt like they were able to see much more than sometimes you wanted to show.

Thankfully, before I could be asked anything else, Doctor Hughes walked in. You could say he looked a bit like Einstein with circle glasses and fluffy white hair. Take that how you want.

"May, I wasn't expe-" He paused when he noticed Valon.

"Mr Vitale?" He scrunched his face in confusion.

First, the woman at the front desk, then the nurse, and now Dr. Hughes? Why does it seem like everyone knows him?

"Dr. Hughes," Valon said in a clipped tone, finally turning away from me and towards Dr. Hughes.

"What brings you here?" He asked Valon.

"Isn't that something you should be asking your patient?"

"Right... Yes, my apologies. What brings you here, my favorite patient?"

Doctor Hughes has always called me his favorite patient since I was his very first patient. It's something he's been doing for years.

"I was hit by a car," I winced, knowing how he'd react.

Dr. Hughes had been my Dr. since I was just a baby. He had been with me through a lot and always had concern for me, which was very understandable because I was always getting into something or inadvertently hurting myself. He had seen me through many different stages and phases, which included my temporary "emo," phase, and a health kick phase where I dropped the weighted bar on my neck during a bench press.

That was the first and last time I had ever tried to exercise.

"You what?! You should be in the ER!" He said in shock. Here we go again.

"Wasn't the nurse supposed to give you my information?" I questioned.

"She said she didn't feel well and had another nurse cover the rest of her shift," He said. She had seemed fine when I just saw her, apart from when she practically ran out of my room.

"Anyways, we'll need to run a few tests to make sure you don't have any broken bones or concussions."

"Ok."

"Are you in any pain?"

"A little," Dr. Hughes raised a brow, and Valon scoffed.

"The wheelchair says otherwise," Valon said under his breath, and I sent him a glare.

"Ok, a lot," I admitted, rolling my eyes at him.

"That's what I thought," said Dr Hughes.

After running a few tests, it was determined that I didn't have a concussion, but my ankle was, in fact, sprained. Dr. Hughes said I was lucky to have only had a sprain and that it could have been much worse. Before I left, he prescribed me some pain medication and warned me of the side effects.

----------------------------------

"Oh my gosh!?" I started to panic. Valon took his eyes off the road for a split second to look at me.

"We have to go back to the hospital!" He returned his attention back to the road, ignoring me.

"He gave me Noodles! He replaced my legs with noodles!" Tears began to fall. He shook his head, and the corners of his mouth pulled up ever so slightly. If you blinked, you would have missed it.

"What's wrong with your face?" I questioned. He looked at me with furrowed brows, and I burst into laughter.

"Go to sleep," He mumbled.

"I can't, I'll go in a comma!"

"Coma...and you won't, you don't have a concussion," He tried to explain.

"That's what I said, Valon," I said, rolling my eyes. His grip on the steering wheel tightened, and he continued to look forward.

"Can you take the lock off the windows?"

"So you can climb out? I don't think so."

"I won't, I promise. I'll stay in my feet. SEAT! Im meant seat!" I chuckled to myself.

"Please....It's the only way I can fall asleep," I explained once I had calmed down. A second later, he unlocked my window and rolled it down. The bitter cold nipped at my skin as it danced its way in the car.

"Thanks." I said, letting my head fall against the headrest. I moved the curly pieces of my hair that kept whipping my face and tucked them behind my ear before I closed my eyes and listened to the harsh wind dance around us, like it was putting on its best performance yet, as we sped down the road.

A tune flooded my mind. It had been stuck in my head ever since I was little. I'm not sure how I knew it, but I'm glad I do, It's always brought me peace. I wouldn't be able to sing the lyrics since I couldn't remember them, but I could hum it perfectly.

The sounds of the wind, the lovely tune in my head on shuffle, and the bitter wind had me falling deeper and deeper into the inviting darkness, and I gladly took its hand.
