Kiyoshi. That's what everyone called him. No last name, just Kiyoshi. He wasn't allowed to ask many questions since his boss didn't like him asking too much.
So here he was, knowing only so much about himself.
One year ago, Kiyoshi lost his memory. The Quirk Elites told him that he fell from the roof of a two-story building. When he woke up in a hospital, his boss told him what happened and that he might not remember what happened before he hit his head. However, he promised Kiyoshi that he'd try to restore his memories.
So Kiyoshi listened to every order his boss had to give. Which mostly comprised killing people with weak quirks or no quirks at all. He had his own opinion on the killing part.
Kiyoshi glanced behind him, making sure he wasn't being followed as he entered a neighbourhood, looking for door number 97. He was covered in a black cloak and a black mask to cover his features. Kiyoshi's eyes darted to every door as he swiftly walked through the neighbourhood. He halted in front of a house with 97 embedded in silver on the door.
According to the information Kiyoshi had, a quirkless young woman in her late twenties lived here with her husband and baby. Her husband had a weak quirk registered by the name 'colour change'. He can change the colours of any objects he touches. Weak ass. Their baby's quirk wasn't registered yet, since she was only three months old.
He was to kill them all.
Kiyoshi tried the residence gate. It was locked. He hopped over it, landing on his feet with a thud. His eyes quickly shifted to the windows. No movement. They were probably asleep since it was so late in the night.
Kiyoshi walked around the house, looking for someplace he could sneak in from. On the back, he found a balcony overlooking the backyard. The balcony door was slightly ajar. Bingo.
Kiyoshi produced a rope of flame from his palm. He spun the burning rope in his hand and looped it on the railings, pulling on it twice to check if it was secure. He climbed the rope of flame with ease. He landed on the balcony quietly. He looked in through the glass doors.
'The master bedroom. Perfect. Saves me the search,' Kiyoshi thought. He pushed the door with his index, and it creaked open. He stepped inside, his eyes landing on the king-size bed. The woman and the man both lay there, their baby in between them, little fists shut tight on her sides.
Kiyoshi's heart swelled.
He shook his head. He wasn't supposed to be soft-hearted.
He stepped towards the bed and produced a sword of flame, holding it in one hand. The entire bedroom glowed from the light of his sword, the temperature increasing.
The woman stirred a little as she felt the temperature rise. She kicked the blanket off herself. "Babe, it's getting hot." She complained, eyes still closed. The man grunted in response.
People are weird when they're asleep.
Her husband clicked his tongue when she complained for the second time, sitting up and rubbing his eyes. He froze when he saw Kiyoshi. His blue eyes widened, glowing from the sword's light. A strangled sound escaped his throat.
"Wake the woman up," Kiyoshi commanded, no mercy in his voice.
"Stay away from us!" The man yelled, coming to his knees, covering his wife and baby with his arms.
"I said, wake up the damn woman." Kiyoshi snarled. "Or this sword will go slicing and burning through your throats."
The woman stirred again. She opened her eyes and furrowed her eyebrows at the roof glowing orange. She looked at her husband and then at Kiyoshi, sitting up straight. Her chest moved up and down in panic.
"W-who are you?" She said, her voice barely a whisper. Her husband took their baby in one arm and wrapped his other arm around her shoulders, scowling at Kiyoshi. The baby started wailing.
Kiyoshi stepped closer to the bed, looking down at the small family with cold silver eyes. If he wanted, he could touch the bedsheets with his swords and eradicate any trace of the family. But he'd never do that.
"I want you to listen to me carefully," Kiyoshi said, his voice loud and clear for them to hear.
"Why should we listen to you?!" The blue-eyed man snapped at him. Kiyoshi put a knee on the bed, bringing his face closer to the couple, still holding the sword. "Shut your fucking mouth and listen, what I'm going to say will spare your damn lives. Or do you want to die along with that little girl of yours?" The couple's eyes widened.
"Good," Kiyoshi said when they remained silent. "I've been sent to kill you. It must be obvious. I'm giving you a chance to run away and hide. Never show your faces here again, or I'll actually come and burn you to crisps. Leave Japan if you can. If you can't leave Japan, I suggest you go hide in the countryside."
"Why...?" The woman muttered, still shaking. "Why'd you come to kill us?"
"Can't tell you unless you want to die. Can you leave Japan?"
"Yes." Her husband replied, his voice hoarse.
"Okay, get only your necessities and leave." Kiyoshi stepped back, withdrawing his blade. "Only the necessities."
He frantically nodded and gave the baby to his wife. She held the baby to her chest, tears rolling down her face. Her husband threw a suitcase open and dumped money from a locker. He threw in some other necessities and looked at Kiyoshi, his face pale.
"Now leave Japan," Kiyoshi ordered. "And don't expect this place to be there if you ever come back."
"When... when can we come back." He asked, searching Kiyoshi's masked face for an answer.
"When the time comes, you'll know," Kiyoshi said. "Now out. Don't use the car."
He nodded slowly and took his wife's arm, ushering her out. Kiyoshi watched them walk out of the house and take a cab to the airport. Once the cab was out of sight, he went back inside.
Kiyoshi held his arm out, flames dancing on his palm. He let the flames touch the bed. The sheets immediately caught on fire.
Kiyoshi walked away from the burning house, his black cloak flapping after him.
His boss would never in a million years know that Kiyoshi didn't actually kill them.
Even as a villain, Kiyoshi knew he'd never kill innocents before he lost his memory.
