The sun shone down on the four winners, with UAs theme song playing in the background, the audience roaring, cheering and clapping. Yoshiko stood on the second-place podium alongside Midoriya. She looked to her side to see Bakugo standing straight and proud, glaring at the audience. To her left stood Todoroki in third place. With a deep breath, she looked in front of her where Saori, Alburn, her mother and, this time, Daisuke stood clapping and roaring her name. She smiled faintly at Daisuke whistling and cheering with all his might. She wanted this last year. She had it now.
"Congratulations, Midroiya, Akimitsu." Endeavor held two second-place medals in his hands. Midoriya leaned his head forward, and Endeavor put the medal around his neck. He looked at Yoshiko, "I hope you consider interning with me this time." She held back a snort, and he gave her the medal.
She watched as Bakugo got his first-place medal, glistening brightly in the sunlight. He deserved it. Yoshiko had lost to Midoriya, which meant he was the one fighting Bakugo. With how intense the fight was, Yoshiko had a feeling Midoriya and Bakugo would both end up knocking each other out cold, but when the smoke cleared, Katsuki alone stood the victor.
Yoshiko thought she'd be upset not getting first place. She was used to being first in everything, be it hero training, exams or tests, but this time, she did not feel that empty pit in her stomach whenever she lost. She was okay with second place this time. She was sad it was her last sports festival, but she'd have thousands of opportunities to shine in her hero career.
On the way to the class, she tried to talk to Bakugo, but she got cornered by her friends and people from other classes congratulating her. She glanced at Bakugo at the far end of the hallway with Todoroki and Midoriya in a similar position as hers. Shinsou freed her from the shackles of the students and dragged her to the empty classroom.
"Congrats, Yoshi." He smiled, patting her shoulder.
"Thanks, Hitoshi." She grinned.
"Don't sulk, okay? You did so freaking good."
"I'm not upset, Hitoshi," She chuckled, "I thought I would be, but I'm not."
"Good." He nodded and went to get his school bag, hopping towards her on one foot as he searched for something inside. He dumped the bag down, and Yoshiko watched him curiously, wondering what he was looking for. He pulled out a ginormous bar of chocolate and handed it to her, "Don't eat it all at once, or I might have to look after your sick ass."
"Oh, my, God." She drooled, taking the chocolate, using up every ounce of self-restraint not to open it right there and then, "Thanks, 'Toshi."
The class was dismissed soon by Aizawa after the 'what next' talk. Everyone hurried back to the dorms, some packing up to spend the next week at their parents' place, some hitting the showers, some falling asleep on the couches with their shoes still on. Iida didn't bug them to take their shoes off, preferring to let them sleep instead. It had been a long day, after all.
Yoshiko looked around for Katsuki, with no signs of him anywhere. She sighed and went to her room to take a nice long shower. She scrubbed herself clean, avoiding applying too much pressure on her thighs where Recovery girl had wrapped bandages. She wrapped a towel around her body and stepped outside the bathroom, glancing at Bear's empty cot. He was still back home with Saori since Yoshiko had been busy training for the sports festival all this time. She'd have to go get her buddy back tomorrow.
