"I'm so glad they're still doing this. Keep calm. Carry on. Back to the OBX life. You know? Aren't you guys glad I made you come?" Kie smiled, as we all walked across the lawn finding a spot in the grass for the outdoor movie.
"Ecstatic," Pope spoke sarcastically, clearing his throat, opening the lawn chair he was holding and placing it on the ground.
"No. Not really." JJ mumbled, as Kie shot me a look, hoping I would be on her side.
"I was actually having more fun killing a bear, but whatever." I shrugged my shoulders and Kie turned her head making a what kind of face.
"Dude, we're out in the green zone." Pope whispered over my shoulder to JJ.
"Jayj, I really don't wanna be here. We're literally in the middle of Kooklandia. Eyes are everywhere." I gulped, sitting down in the grass and scooting as close as I possibly could to him. I hated nothing more than coming to this side of the island and somehow managed to find myself here again. But I couldn't freak out in front of all these people and raise suspicion so I shoved my anxiety down and tried to relax.
"You're good, Park. I'm right here," JJ whispered, putting his arm around my shoulder.
Kie came back from the concession stand with four Pepsi's, handing one to each of us. "So Rafe, just said and I quote 'Tell your boy we know what he did,'" I basically jumped in JJ's lap, as those words left her mouth. All I could think about was getting the hell out of here.
"Where is he?" JJ asked, holding me close. I was surprised I could hear him over how loud my heart was pounding against my chest.
"He's right there," Kie stated, turning in the direction of where Rafe was standing, causing JJ, Pope, and I to whip our heads around making eye contact with not only Rafe but Topper, Kelce and Brooks.
"Great the whole death squad." Pope quaked, as JJ grabbed his head, turning him around quickly.
I sat in between JJ's legs and leaned back into him, "Jayj, I really wanna go. Can we please leave?" I begged, trying to keep myself together.
"We can't, Park. I know you wanna go but if we leave it'll cause suspicion for them to know you sunk the boat." JJ explained, running his hands up and down my arm to make sure I stayed calm. As much as I didn't wanna admit it, we would have to stay, he was right we couldn't leave, not yet. "We'll stay together, they won't get us if we all stay together and if that doesn't work. I got this right here." He added, holding up his backpack.
"I'm sorry JJ, please tell me you did not bring the gun here. There are kids!" Kie half whispered, half shouted.
I sat up glaring over at Kie, "Respectfully Kiara, shut it. There's no gun, okay?" I snapped, not meaning to but I just was so fucking nervous and scared it was eating me alive. I only lied to Kie about JJ not brining the gun to keep everyone from arguing because it was just too much to deal with right now.
