Kai set an alarm for 5am. Beomgyu wasn't happy to have that blasted in his ears so early but it was necessary. He had to be at the stage before the event organizers got there to finish setting up.

After taking a moment to stretch, he rolled out of bed and got dressed in all black. He then took a large black cloak from Beomgyu's closet to use as a cover. Kai kissed his fiance goodbye before he walked out the door.

The walk to the capitol was fairly short. It was still dark out which he was very thankful for. No one was around. Kai crossed the barrier to find the floor marker the wife was going to stand on. The reflective tape made it easy to see, even with the low visibility. Once he found it, he pulled that section of the stage back an inch. It was enough to slide an envelope through but not large enough for a crew to notice.

Now the part that was going to suck. Kai crawled under the stage to where the marker was and waited. He turned his phone screen brightness to the lowest it would go so he could play games. After an hour, he fell asleep.

10am, Kai woke up to the sound of heavy movement around him. He heard speakers being set up on the sides. The stage skirt got draped along the edges. Kai covered himself in the cloak and aimed to make his body as flat as possible. He was worried someone saw him for a moment but then he realized no one did. Now that the skirt was completely over all the sides, Kai was caged in almost complete darkness. The only light he saw, came through the inch gap he created earlier. It was just a waiting game now.

Movements along the edges kept freaking him out. Footsteps on the stage made it worse. He decided to go on the internet to distract his thoughts. There was a trending local article of Beomgyu in a hood, walking down the street. The comments were disappointed to see a ring on his finger. The actual article was questioning if he was the thief from Rynelda. That was kind of true. Kai was honestly more surprised no one has been able to get a clear photo of him yet. He sent the article to his fiance and kept scrolling.

The next article that caught his attention was from the police commissioner. He made a speech about the 10 most wanted list and urged the public to come forward with information. Kai noticed he went from 8th to 6th. The only photo the police had on him was from the foster system. He was 14 in the picture. He had distinctive features but he still looked nothing like his childhood self. Kai wondered who else the Chois had to bribe to get him off of that list.

11am. The mayor and his family came onto the stage to go through rehearsals. Kai could hear the family talking to the stage director. Their microphones were being adjusted in sound check. A crowd began to form outside. He took a risk and crawled to the back side of the stage. He lifted the skirt, ever so slightly to see if people were in the back as well. There was bleachers set up. Now Kai couldn't leave until the parade started.

11:55. The crowd was now louder from all sides of the stage. The family walked up and took their places. Some guy came out to make a speech to introduce the mayor. Kai wished he would hurry up so he could get this over with.

A band begun to play the national anthem as the speech ended. Kai rolled his eyes. All this country had done for him was fuck him over. Criminals were the only people who had ever helped him. Well, besides Felix of course. He got rewarded with a paid for apartment though.

When the anthem was over, the mayor finally begun his speech. His 30 minute count down started. Kai opted to wait until towards the end in hopes people would be so bored, they wouldn't notice an envelope emerging from the stage.

At 12:20, he found his opening. The crowd was getting hyped up by the mayor. The wife was waving to the crowd. The little girl was waving a flag as she was being picked up by her mother. Kai quickly slipped the letter to where her feet was then crawled away.

At 12:25, he heard the mayor stutter through his closing speech. His wife clearly showed him the letter and Yeonjun better have been watching. Footsteps kept getting closer to the edges. Kai bundled himself up in the cloak then laid in a ball next to the speakers. He held his breath as spots of light poured into spots on the stage. The mayor noticed the crowd getting concerned from the actions of the security guards. He quickly ended the speech then announced the start of the parade. The guards seemed to leave the stage to escort the family.

Kai waited for the noise of the crowd to leave. He peaked out the back to notice most people were gone. Some crew closest to him was packing stuff up. He waited until their backs were turned to roll out. The cloak quickly came off and got wrapped around his neck. He picked up a speaker and pretended to be apart of the clean up crew. The speaker got placed into the trailer and Kai walked off. He disappeared into the parade crowd and slowly made his way home.

All three Chois and Taehyun were waiting for him in the throne room. Kai asked "did I do something wrong?"

Taehyun said "no. How the hell did you pull that off?"

Soobin asked "how did you get away without being seen?"

Kai shrugged as Beomgyu ran into his arms. "I got lucky." He kissed his fiance then hugged Taehyun. "I was looking for you. We should talk later."

Taehyun nodded. "Seriously though. How long were you under there?!"

"About 7 hours. Wasn't the most comfortable I've ever been."

Yeonjun laughed as he walked up to Kai with his phone. He displayed the money transfer, showing a completed payment. "You should be off the list within a week."

"I'll see it when I believe it."

Beomgyu held his hand and looked at his fiance with puppy eyes. "Come on. Let's continue to plan our wedding!"

Kai kissed him softly on the lips then his cheek. "Soon honey. I want to have lunch with Taehyun first."

"Be back soon perfection."

Kai kissed him again then left with his boss. They stopped at a Thai restaurant and ordered a lot of food. Kai transferred Taehyun's cut of the delivery to his account then continued to eat.

"Not that I'm complaining, but why did you want to talk to me?"

"I wanted to know if you'd be my best man. I don't really have any friends besides you, who could come to the wedding, and I didn't know if it was even appropriate to call you my friend."

Taehyun smiled brightly. "I think you're my friend! And I would love to!"

They happily ate and talked about how neither of them could believe a Choi was getting married.

Kai laughed a lot. He had to ask "have you ever...?"

"What? With one of them?"

"Yeah."

Taehyun smirked as he bit into his sandwich. "Yeonjun actually. It was pretty regular too but neither of us wanted a relationship so we broke it off."

"I find it hard to believe Yeonjun has feelings beyond what his dick tells him."

Taehyun's tea snorted out of his nose when he failed to hold back his laugh. Kai almost fell over from laughing so hard. He eventually sat up and handed his boss a handful of napkins. Taehyun took them to wipe his face off. "Um...ha. Yeah he does. Sometimes I look at you and Beomgyu and think of what I could've had. The only difference was your heir fought for you while mine let me go."

"I knew I didn't like him."

"Eh. The past is the past. So what kind of party do you want? We're kind of limited on what we can do."

Kai thought about it for a moment. He actually really wanted to go horseback riding again and get drunk around a bonfire. "The cops still looking for me in Rynelda?"

"Not you. They think it's Beomgyu. We could probably go next week. Why?"

"I have three people I'd love to introduce you to."

"Okay? Who are they?"

"Felix, Hyunjin and Seungmin. Trust me. You'll love them!"
