Establishing forever

"Why are we here?" Kai looked out of the windshield to see they were at the same abandoned parking garage he made Beomgyu drive to months ago. His husband didn't speak. He only smiled as he climbed to the roof of the car. Kai silently laughed to himself at how much they've rubbed off on each other. He climbed to the hood of the car too.

The sun was high in the sky. Beomgyu rested his head on his husband's shoulder as he watched the city. "You opened my eyes to how much I didn't know. I thought I knew everything about this place. I should've. I grew up here. You've changed my life in so many different ways. More than you probably realize perfection. I just wanted to come up here to see how far we've come."

Kai pointed to the left. "I remember you chasing me through that field with your car."

Beomgyu squinted his eyes to try and find it. He saw the knocked over fence then smiled to himself. "Do you understand how much that cost me to repair?!"

"I never told you to run a fucking Bentley into a fence!"

"Oh baby, it was so worth it." The heir tried to look around for more memories. Caspian became a large came of I-Spy for the couple. Sounds of cars honking and people shouting went off in the background. "Ah! Look over there!"

Kai's vision followed to where Beomgyu pointed. He saw the library he stole a blueprint from. "What about it?"

"I just think it's ironic that out of all of your missions, a library one is where you get injured."

"Yeah, why couldn't you guys have sent me to a school or a retirement home? You can see why I thought you were trying to kill me right?"

Beomgyu held his hand. His thumb spun Kai's finger around while his cheek squished further against his neck. "I would never. I'd gladly kill anyone who dares to hurt you though."

"Me too."

"Really? You?"

"When you told me someone raped you, I wanted to kill him."

"Well, lucky for both of us, I beat you to it."

Kai was confused. "Why is that lucky for me?"

"Because I don't want you to change who you are. Hurting people isn't you."

He wasn't wrong. No matter how terrible someone was, Kai couldn't hurt anyone. He was a runner, not a fighter. "I'd like to think that if your life was at stake, I could do it."

"You never have to. That's what my cousins are for."

"Oh shit."

"What?"

"What do you think they're going to do if they find out we got married before our wedding?"

Beomgyu mindlessly people watched while he thought about it. "Yeonjun won't really care as long as he still gets to plan the ceremony."

"And why are you letting him when it's our wedding?"

"Believe me, it's easier this way. He lives for this stuff."

"And Soobin?"

"Will probably be very mad so get ready for a lecture." Beomgyu felt how tense his husband became. "It'll be okay. You're an heir now. He can't be too mad."

"An heir..." That was weird to hear. Kai looked out at the rundown buildings. That's where he belonged. It's all he ever knew. The wealth in the background was where he felt the most uncomfortable. He quietly repeated it to himself again. "I'm an heir..."

"Well, yeah? That kind of happened when you said 'I do'."

"Can we still live in my apartment?"

"Of course!" Beomgyu giggled when Kai relaxed. "Is that what this is about? You're worried something will change between us?"

"A little..."

"It won't. I promise."

Over the next few months, Beomgyu kept his word. The little studio apartment was their home. When Yeonjun wasn't planning their wedding, he was redecorating that studio. The Chois were born with luxury and he was sure as hell to keep it that way.

Soobin gave them an hour long lecture when a contact told him of their marriage. He didn't let either get a word in until he was done speaking. When Beomgyu finally got the chance to speak, another hour long argument began between the two. Kai tried to leave multiple times but the cousins took turns demanding his opinion. By the end of the lecture, everyone was tired. The two were married. What was done was done.

Kai insisted on remaining a messenger despite being offered a sector of the city. He didn't want any part in controlling people's lives. Taehyun practically promoted him to his position so they could spend more time together. The two became best friends. They ran deliveries together and recruited together.

Because Taehyun was seeing Kai more often, that also meant he saw Yeonjun more often. Their little fling started up again. Neither were in love nor did they care to be. It was just about having "fun" between the stress of life.

Before everyone knew it, the date of Beomgyu and Kai's actual wedding was here. Both were just as excited as they were last time. Kai felt a little silly in the suit Yeonjun chose for him. All of his anxieties about his outfit were washed away when he saw his husband walking towards the alter. That moment was the second most beautiful way he had ever seen him. The first was naked in his arms.

Despite Soobin's doubts, the couple proved him wrong over time. They never did get sick of each other. Every single day, they managed to fall more in love.

Kai's knowledge on the struggling class meant they could implement laws for more permanent solutions instead of temporary ones. It took years to see the effects but Caspian's wealth did spread to the crime ridden areas. Taxes on the wealthy were raised. Wages went up. City building codes were being maintained and updated at a record pace. Healthcare was lowered and rehabilitation centers increased.

9:00pm. Beomgyu was sitting on the couch, snuggled between Kai's legs, playing with his fingers, and asked "our wedding anniversary is coming up. Do you want anything?"

"You're all I've ever needed baby."

"Okay but actually, do you want anything?"

Kai kissed the top of his forehead then wrapped his arms around his husband's chest. Beomgyu was everything to him. "No. All I've ever needed was you."

He's made a lot of poor choices in the past. They both did. One choice neither of them have ever regretted was each other.
