Nick, Matt, Chris, Nate, Madi, and Piper are on their way over. I decided to have a little pool day and I decided to invite them, because let's be real the pool is pretty boring if you don't have people around.

I bought some hotdogs, burgers, watermelon, popsicles, ice cream, pizza, etc.

I am in my backyard opening up my pool when I hear the gate open.

"What up G!" Nate screams walking through the gate.

"Sup!" I yell back stepping back from the pool.

The rest of them soon walk through the gate. Piper jogs over to me and gives me a hug. Madi does the same.

"Anyone hungry?" I asked.

They all said yes so I go over and fire up the grill. I place some hotdogs and some patties on the grill then close it.

"Try not to burn them this time." Chris teases.

"I didn't burn them last time." I said, placing my hands on my hips.

"Imma throw you in the pool." He smiles at me while giggling.

"You throw me in the pool, imma throw in the grill." I joke back.

Chris and I tease and joke around a lot with each other. He can always make me laugh and I can always make him laugh. Many have mistaken us for a couple but we both shut it down quickly.

"Y/n can we swim in the pool or not?" Matt asked me.

"No Matt. I just invited y'all over for a 'lets roast in the sun like rotisserie chickens' day." I said sarcastically.

"Nice one." Chris says.

"Why thank you." I said opening the grill and flipping the burgers.

Chris helps me get the burgers and hotdogs on individual plates. He places them on the table and I grab the buns.

Once I got it all situated on the table, I walk over to the fridge and grab the bowl of watermelon.

"Damn Y/n. Okay, party god." Chris jokes grabbing a piece of watermelon.

"Don't call me that." I said, cringing.

The day continues and we all jump into the pool. The cold pool water with burning sun makes it a perfect day.

"Chris you want another price of watermelon?" Nate asks from under the shelter.

"Nah I'm good." Chris says.

Piper, Madi, Nick and Matt are currently playing a pool game they made up. I laying one of my pool side chair, I felt an unwanted presence. I raise my sunglasses up and look over to my left to find the offsetting feeling when a pair of arms pull me up.

"No." I shout knowing it's Chris trying to throw me into the pool.

I wiggle about and Chris loses his balance, getting my feet back on the ground but his arms still around me.

"Nope." Chris says lifting me up again.

I drop my body once more planting my feet on the ground.

"Chris, you will ruin the day." I said now giggling.

I start to try and remove his arms when I hear a familiar voice.

"Lovely day by the pool. Isn't it Miss Y/n?" I look over and see my elderly neighbor, Mr. Ross.

He's quite possibly the sweetest human being alive. When my family first moved here, he was the first one to welcome us with opened arms. He always sends Christmas cards, he joins us for Thanksgiving and family game nights, he's even went to my little brother's sports games sometimes.

"Hey Mr. Ross." I said, removing myself from Chris's arms and walking over to the fence so he can hear me better. "How's your knee feeling today?"

"Oh same old same old. I'll be kicking ass at the bingo hall before the end of next week." He tells me.

I giggle as I look over my shoulder and see that Chris is standing behind me.

"You scared me." I said.

"Boo." He shouts in my ear.

"Jackass." I said as he smiles at me.

"You better be good to her young man. Trust me. You think they'll never leave, but then you wake up one day and your entire savings in your cookie jar is gone along with your 14 year old cat." Mr. Ross says.

"You still coming to family game night on Sunday?" I asked.

"You beat your sweetie patootie." Mr. Ross says. "I'll leave you young folks to it. Make sure you keep that boyfriend of yours in line there."

"Will do." I said as I watch Mr. Ross walk back into his house safely.

"Boyfriend?" Chris looks at me with a smirk.

"He's old Chris, what do you want." I said. "Half the time he doesn't know what he's saying."

"I mean he's got an idea there." Chris's words made me stop in my tracks as I turn a heel and look at him.

"What?!" I look at him confused.

"I mean haven't you ever wondered what it would be like to be in a relationship?" He asked me.

"Of course." I answered. "Chris what are you getting at?"

Chris places his hands on the sides of my face, rubbing my cheeks gently with his thumbs. He smiles down at me softly before pulling my face closer to where my lips meet his.

I feel this drop in my stomach as butterflies rush into it. I place my hands on top of Chris's, never wanting this moment to end. He eventually pulls us away for air.

"You have no idea how long I've been wanting to do that." He speaks softly.
