Chris's P.O.V

I'm sitting on the roof watching the sunset. Me and Y/n always came up here to see the sun end another day or start a new one. It was her favorite thing in the world. She has endless pictures on her phone of the sun rising and setting.

I sniffled as I get consumed by my own thoughts.

Why couldn't I have been enough for her?

She was literally perfect for me.

I wonder if she'll ever come back.

If I had just...

My thoughts get interrupted as I hear the door to the roof being opened. I look over my shoulder just to see that it's Matt and Nick.

"I told you he'd be up here." Matt says.

"Okay. Fucking sue me." Nick says.

They both soon join me and both sit on each side of me.

"The sunset's beautiful." Nick comments.

"Yeah." I said, lowly. "Y/n probably has taken so many pictures of the sky tonight already."

"Come on Chris. You can't keep doing this to yourself." Matt says.

"You really can't." Nick agrees.

"I can do whatever I want." I said, resting my chin on my arms that are being supported by my knees.

"Chris this isn't healthy." Nick says placing a hand on my shoulder. "Y/n wouldn't want you to be doing this."

"You don't know what she wants." I said. "She doesn't even know what she wants."

"But she's trying to and she's going to. That's why she did what she did." Matt tells me.

"She could've told me instead of breaking my heart." I said.

"Chris, Y/n has a lot of things to figure out. She's got so much on her plate." Nick said. "Y/n talked to me before breaking up with you."

"What? And you didn't tell me?" I said, feeling betrayed.

"First off, I had no place to tell you that your girlfriend was going to break up with you. That's crossing a universe boundary that I'm not willing to break." Nick says defending himself.

"She talked to me too." Matt chimes in.

"Are you fucking serious?" I said, now just getting angry.

"But it wasn't about breaking up with you, it was about what was all going on in her mind and what she was battling." Matt explains. "Chris, Y/n felt like she wasn't giving you all that she could. She felt like she was giving you this fake person to date. She didn't feel like herself."

"I know that's what she told me." I said.

"Well, how would you feel if you felt like it wasn't YOU loving her?" Nick asked.

"Yeah Chris put yourself in her shoes." Matt adds.

"It's so hard to feel anything when you've lost yourself." Nick said.

"Y/n broke up with you so she could be the best version of herself..." Matt s says before I interrupt him.

"So you were rooting for us to break up?!" I said, snappishly.

"Would you let me finish, you asshat." Matt says. "She broke up with you so she could become the best version of herself for you."

"Chris, let me ask you something." Nick says grabbing my attention. "In the last few months, did notice any changes about Y/n?"

"I mean she got really quiet and anytime I'd FaceTimed her, she was in her room." I said.

"Wasn't she usually out with her friends if she wasn't with you?" Nick asked.

"I just thought she was tired." I said, realizing that Y/n hated being home. She always was out and about.

Now I feel stupid for not realizing something was going on.

"Oh my god. How did I not realize that?" I said rubbing my eyes.

"Y/n didn't want anyone to see that there was something wrong." Matt says. "Especially you."

"How long do you guys think it'll be before she comes back?" I asked.

"I wish I knew the answer to that." Nick says. I know he's missing her just as much as me.

"First week's always the hardest." Matt says patting my back.

It's been well passed a week. It's been almost three. I understand I have to give her time but I don't have Matt's patience. Just then Nick's phone starts ringing and we all jump. Nick then answers.

"Hi." Nick says with a big smile on his face.

"Are you outside?" I heard a familiar voice speak.

"Yeah." Nick says smiling at his phone. "Matt and Chris are here as well."

Nick turns his phone to where all of us are in frame.

"Hi guys." Y/n say waving to all of us.

"Hey." Matt says waving back.

I smile softly as I see the genuine smile that is across her lips.

"Are you looking at the sunset?" Nick asked her.

"Duh." She says. "I got some really good pictures of it too."

"I bet you do." Nick smiles.

Y/n starts to talk about her day and I couldn't stop smiling. She went to the beach, thifting, and got ice cream.

"I've been writing and it's been helping me so much." She tells us. "I feel so energized and inspired. Just being able to focus on myself has been so reviving."

"I'm so happy to hear it." Nick tells her.

I'm happy to hear it too. Maybe she's better off with me. She genuinely seems happier.

"Oh I've also took up rock climbing." She tells us. "You guys should join me one time to see if you like it."

"That sounds fun." Matt says.

"Oh I have to go guys." She says softly.

"Awe so soon?" Nick whines.

"I'll call you guys tomorrow. How's that sound?" She asks.

"Okay. Happy Nick's back." Nick smiles.

"I love guys." She said.

"We love you too Y/n." Matt tells her.

"I love you Chris." My head shot up and towards the phone.

I smile at her.

"I love you too." I said softly.

"You wanna grab tacos next Wednesday? Just me and you?" She asks.

"Sure. I'd love that." I tell her.

"See ya guys." Is the last thing she said before hanging up.

"She was glowing." Nick said looking Matt and I.

I smile to myself. I miss her but I know she's where she needs to be.
