Charlie stared down at his orders to go with Oceaniana through the Nebula and assist the Federation establishing allies, trade routes and colonies taking a year. A year away from everyone he knew but it was going to be the best year of his life, oh god what was he going to tell Nick! The pair had been dating for seven months almost now it wasn't fair on him at the same time he couldn't miss this. That was two things now, they had gotten drunk playing Truth or Dare with Tao, Elle, Tara, Darcy and Aled then started making out progressing further. Lets just say that night resulted in Charlie finding out he was on of the less than 10% of the male population that carried the rare gene allowing them to get pregnant. A sudden thud against his shoulder altered him to Tori behind him, "What?!" "Chill," "How did you-," "Older sister magic you need to tell Nick both about the baby and this," he forgot his family was there when found out Oliver was running all over the place, he had fainted in the shopping centre and was taken to the hospital, "Can't I just give the child to those settling and starting colonies," "You would never forgive yourself we won't tell Nick but I suggest you do."

Charlie somehow choked out the news of him leaving on the mission, Oceaniana had been all over the news because of it, even more incredible he told Nick he was pregnant, his face was a picture for almost forever, "Pregnant, baby," "If you don't want to I'll," "Don't you dare say give up the baby or get an abortion. Are you okay with it?" "I'm thrilled! All be it not the right time but definitely the right person. Nick my commander knows and I am still going, its a year next January the baby is due in October," "They'll be three months old by the time I finally meet them," "Yeah I will keep you update we can work something out, we can do this," Charlie smiled finally feeling the optimism. Nicks mum was next to find out, she was concerned till she realised they had it sorted, they were going to live relatively normal lives regardless of the child fixing there lives around it, she was also upset that she to wouldn't be apart of the babies first three months. The first get together was to be the Christening.

The last day before set off was emotional for all, Charlie was 10 weeks and Nick was fiercely protective every chance he got. Charlie got tickets for his family and friends to be in the family gallery to watch Oceaniana leave the atmosphere, as mentioned before everyone was following the story and it was a public event, open the news and all you could see was the empty Oceaniana bridge as everything was prepared. "Remember to call at least twice a week," Nick asked wrapping his arms around his boyfriend, he had never seen Charlie in uniform. All crew were in there grey ship t-shirts, straight legged black trousers and belts, the grey ship t-shirts consisted of the JIST logo on the left hand side of the front 'USS Oceaniana' across the shoulders then for him 'Dragons' underneath, in his case 'Lieutenant C Springs' along the bottom and the Federation logo on the left sleeve all in black letters stark against the grey fabric. "I promise and I promise to keep you updated, I need to go," he went round saying goodbye before getting to Nick he leaned into his chest as Nick snaked his arms around his waist, "Goodbye I love you," "I love you both, goodbye, hey Baby be good for your dad," Nick whispered against Charlie's shoulder rubbing the non existent bump.

The bridge became a bustling place of life as the crew came aboard, the three consoles across the back were taken pretty quickly, Charlie and Pick took there places at the navigational helm and weapons array respectively, Buck and Alex sat in the second in commands chair and Alex took the spare leaving only the captains chair open. C walked with great confidence checking in with everyone whispering to respect privacy, finally she stood in front of the chair, "Lets get this show on the road, Gunner set a course for the Nebula warp four," she sat down nodding at the camera link, "Engage," Charlie expertly fired up the core turned the ship around and jumped into warp.

Took four months to get to the Nebula, Charlie kept Nick constantly updated, did his GCSE's in space. The Nebula itself was beautiful.

Charlie's water broke on the bridge after insisting he still work at 38 weeks, Nick was on the bus home when there child was almost to be born. He started crying hearing his own child cry, "It's a girl!" "Nick we have a little girl," she was placed on Charlie's chest happy as a clam, "Genevieve, Genevieve Maisie Tori Nelson," Charlie announced (name had been discussed before hand), "Nick she's beautiful I wish you were here," "Hi baby, hi Vi I'm your other dad," Nick smiled cooing at the screen.

A worm hole that shortened the journey between Earth and the new colonies, a once 4 month journey was now 4 hours at impulse, an hour in warp. As a surprise C arranged for Nick to see Charlie and meet Genevieve for the first time, no one was saying a word about it to anyone so there was no chance of it getting back to Charlie. Imagine the look on Charlie's face when he saw Nick standing in the door way, "Am I dreaming or are you actually here," "I'm here Char is that," he gasped, "Yeah it's Genevieve," Nick cautiously edged forward to see Genevieve's sleeping face curled into Charlie's chest, "Ready to meet your dad?" Charlie smiled carefully handing her over to Nick, "She's so beautiful," "Come here," Charlie took a photo of the two of them then a friend offered to take a photo of all three of them together. Immediate lock screen right there.

Nick didn't face the gossip when he got back, he and Charlie made an announcement on insta regarding Genevieve's birth just something along the lines of 'Genevieve Maisie Tori Nelson-Spring born October 15th', most just minded there own business. He kept up with Genevieve's life through constant FaceTime's and wished for nothing more than to hold his family in his arms. Nick stood waiting at the gate for Charlie and Genevieve to disembark Oceaniana now they were all home, Charlie's family as well as his mum were stood around him excited to meet the newest addition to the family, Oliver was however more interested in seeing Nick. Charlie spotted them first throwing his bag onto his shoulders, adjusted to hold Vi more securely and made a bolt into welcoming arms. Grandparents went first passing the 10 week old round like a toy, Nick took her last to carry her the rest of the way, he was immediately recognised by his daughter who promptly fell asleep in his arms.

Once home Charlie set Vi in her newly built cot and collapsed onto his own bed, "Scoot over," Nick teased, Charlie's door suddenly flew wide open, "Dad!" "Door stays open while Nick is here you two are not making another one at least until you move out on your own," he ordered making the two teens laugh and Vi cry, "No Char, hi baby ooh everything okay?" Nick smiled picking up his daughter, he pressed her against his chest, tears kept coming, "Hang on, 5 little monkeys were jumping on the bed one fell off and bumped his head, mama called the doctor and the doctor said, no more monkey's jumping on the bed," Charlie played till Vi was smiling then asleep, "Hold still," Charlie took an adorable picture of the two of them.

Couple days before going back Charlie and Vi stayed with Nick at his house, they had the house to themselves thanks to Nick's mum being at work and David out with his girlfriend. Vi was wide awake and wanted to play with no concept of 23:00, the group then preceded to play on the floor just rolling around till Charlie started a staring competition with there clueless daughter, "Charlie that's enough loon bag someone needs to learn bedtimes," Nick chuckled scooping Vi up.
