Nintendo 64 - Alex G

Trigger warning ⚠️: attempted suicide, drug overdose

Charlie's POV:

I run my fingers along the stiff scratchy fabric, it irritated my cuts. Nick saw the picking and moved closer, he's so sweet I don't deserve him. He hold me from behind holding my hands criss cross across my body, I mean it worked. He encased me with his gorgeous scent but I wanted to continue working on my music work, compose an original piece. As much as I love him he wasn't really helping. After what felt like hours I had a melody and a first verse.

[Verse 1]

My dog just ran away and I am feeling pretty bad

I've been sneaking out at night and my parents are real mad

I've been taking lots of drugs 'cause they teach me not to care

Yeah, I guess that's how you cheat because life doesn't play fair

The sad dog bit was because Nick was whispering in my ear that Nellie was missing me and he wondered when we could meet in the park. A polite day dream to try and pull my mind from a spiral, he knew the signs. He tried to peer into the the notebook but I shut it to quickly for him to see.

Getting home was a relief, Tori was silent but watching me like a hawk. I stayed upstairs working on my song, I couldn't escape the thoughts, the guilt, the sadness. I'm going bad again. Everything's my fault... My scribblings weren't even legible anymore but I had reached a decision. I was going to end it all tonight. I found my second verse, its what I'm going to tell Ollie.

Tori pushed open my door and I jumped, "Victoria whats up?" I ask switching off emotions, "I am going out with Micheal for an hour can you watch Ollie please?" She was so excited the first time I had seen her like this in a while, probably to get away from you, a voice whispered, "Yeah sure," I answered, "Just don't do anything stupid," I crossed my fingers, "Wouldn't even think of it." She believed me, I rummaged the medical cabinet finding the bottle of antidepressants. Running down the stairs I shouted that I was ordering McDonalds, just for Ollie though, he wanted a Happy Meal. He was so excited as I set up my Nintendo to play, Ollie was so innocent in this world. "Charlie why are you so sad?" He asked sitting in my lap eating McDonalds, "Some people just aren't but I will be soon. I'll be happy when I die," I pull out the bottle, "These are called prozac they will make me happy and if they don't work a knife will do it just as well," "I want you here to be my big brother but I want you to be happy," Oliver sighed hugging me, "Tell you what, when I'm gone you can have my Nintendo so you can sit in your room playing all night long." I kissed his curly hair before going into the kitchen. I took one last glance at the front room before swallowing half the bottle.

Oliver's POV:

I hear a thud in the kitchen, looking over I see that Charlie was no longer in there. The Happy Meal was nice but they forgot the BBQ sauce, mummy and daddy taught me to put my plate in the dishwasher and my rubbish in the bin. "Charlie!" I called running into the kitchen, "Why are you on the floor?" I ask poking him, expecting him to grab me. I sat on him hoping he would spring into life and start playing horsy like we used to when he was happy. He told me he was going to be happy. "Charlie?" I ask again, I remember something Tori said to me, if Charlie is ever on the floor not talking to me with his eyes closed call 9-9-9 and we live at 143 St Edwards Road. He left his phone on the sofa so I ran and grabbed it pressing emergency dial, "9-9-9 what service do you require," "I don't know we live at 143 St Edwards Road and my sister and mummy says to call you if my brother falls over and if he doesn't talk to me and has his eyes closed then I'm to call you," "Whats your name sweetheart," the nice lady asked, "Oliver," "How old are you honey?" "8," "And what about your brother whats his name?" "His name is Charlie short for Charles and he's 15," she tapped her keyboard, "Oliver is Charlie lying on his belly or on his back," "His belly," I say triumphantly, "I need you to put your hand by his mouth and tell me if you feel him breathing can you do that for me?" I did as she asked, my hand was shaking holding it by Charlie's face, "I can feel his breath," "Thats good, is anyone else home with you?" "No just me and him, our sister is out," she sighed, "Can you tell me where you are in the house?" "In the kitchen under the glass ceiling," "Is your front door locked," "Yes Charlie always locks it for safety," "Can you unlock it some people need to come in and help your brother," my lip trembled, I'm scared, "No," I cried, "I don't know where the key is."
