Chapter 4: The Final Goodbye

Bella's POV

After Edward walked me down the stairs, I walked over to Renee.

"Hey, mom." I said, hugging her.

"Hey, Hun! Where have you been?" She glanced around.

"I went for a walk, and tripped." I replied, gesturing to my wrists.

"Oh, honey!" she shook her head.

"Hey, mom, I have to go cut the cake with Edward, okay?"

"Okay, honey. I'll come over in a minute."

I nodded, and walked over to the kitchen counter. Edward grabbed the cake knife, and, after kissing my hair, he grabbed my hand and placed it on the knife handle, and placed his hand over mine, so we were both holding the knife together.

Everyone gathered around.

"Ready?" Edward whispered into my ear. I took a deep breath.

"As ready as I'll ever be." And we brought the knife into the cake.

Everyone clapped, and we started serving it. However, Jessica and Mike decided to leave without it. This is what I was worried about.

"Hey, Bella. We're gonna head out," Mike said, his arm around Jessica's shoulders.

"O-okay!" I said with fake enthusiasm.

"Promise me we'll keep in touch, okay, Bella?" Jess asked, hugging me.

I held my breath, an crossed my fingers behind my back. "I promise," I breathed, and she smiled.

Edward excused himself, and went to talk to Alice and Jasper. Leaving me alone to say final goodbyes.

Mike hesitated, then awkwardly hugged me. "See ya, Bella. Have fun in Alaska," he smirked, and went back to Jess.

"Thanks," I mumbled, and then they walked out the door. Before they left, though, Mike yelled, "See ya Cullen!"

I walked around the kitchen nervously, almost pacing, dreading anyone else leaving.

I'm not sure how long I was pacing for, but all too soon, Tyler, Lauren, and Eric were all saying goodbye.

Then Angela and Ben. I hate to admit it, but some tears were spilled for that one.

Then it was Renee and Phil. More tears.

And finally, Charlie.

"I'm gonna go home, now, Bells," he said, putting his beer bottle on the counter.

"Um, okay," I replied, fighting back more tears already.

"I'm really going to miss you, Bella," he hugged me.

I sniffed, "I'm gonna miss you, too, Dad,"

"Now, now, Bella, you're not supposed to be crying,"

"Sorry."

"You'll visit soon, right?"

"As soon as I can."

"Okay, Bells."

Suddenly, Edward walked in and wrapped his arm around my waist, followed by Alice, Carlisle, Esme, Emmett, Jasper, and Rosalie.

"Take care of my daughter, alright?" Charlie said, pointing at Edward.

"I swear, I will, with all my life." Edward said, kissing my cheek. I more or less blushed.

All of Edward's family said goodbye to Charlie, and then, with a "See ya, kiddo,", he left.

I fell to my knees, crying.
