Bella's POV:

My mind was drifting aimlessly as my eyes threatened to close, dragging me into a heavy slumber when cool arms wrapped around me.

"What's the plan?" I mumbled, my words slurring together. I hadn't known I was this tired.

"We're going to tell you. We need you downstairs. Is that okay?" he murmured into my ears.

I didn't trust him to understand my words, so I just nodded. He lifted me up easily into his arms and before I knew it we were downstairs.

"Did you drug her? She's dead on her feet," I heard Emmett snigger.

I opened my eyes and glared at him, and he raised his hands in the air I'm surrender, leaning back on the loveseat.

Edward sat down, placing me on his lap. As they were explaining the plan to me, Edward was twisting locks of my hair with his fingers, and it was very distracting.

When I finally understood all of the pieces of the plan, I didn't agree at first. I worried about Edward; He said he could handle himself, but I had to save him from Victoria and the Volturi before. (From New Moon and Eclipse movies, Edward almost got killed but Bella distracted them)

"Bella, you two wouldn't be alone." Esme reminded me.

Edward scoffed. "You worry too much,"

"C'mon, Bella, let us have some fun," Emmett said, completely at ease.

That was the thing. They were always so at ease with these things. Being honest, it irked me to no end. Why didn't they understand that they weren't as breakable as they thought when it came to experienced, bloodthirsty vampires?

I remembered how Aro had said that the Volturi was over 3,000 years old. If that's not a group of experienced, strong vampires than I don't know what is.

Of course, I knew it was only Demetri we were facing, and he would be outnumbered no matter which group he attacked, but not all of them could anticipate his moves.

Edward would be able to read his mind, making it very difficult for Demetri to get to me. Alice could see what he would do once he decided.

But Esme and Rosalie, who'd be protecting Charlie after leading another false trail, had no idea what he would do. He could make a move to attack Esme long enough for Rosalie to defend and double back to snap Rosalie's head off in the next second.

I let out an involuntary shudder.

Edward chafed his hand up and down my arm comfortingly, but I wasn't comforted. Edward could tell.

"Jasper," Edward murmured. I glowered at Edward as I felt the calmness soothe me.

"I don't want to be forced into agreement," I snapped, and stomped up the stairs.

"Well, that went well," I heard Carlisle mumble.

"She doesn't have a choice. We're following through with this plan. She'll give in eventually," Alice chimed.

I rolled my eyes, and slammed Edward's bedroom door. As I turned toward the bed, Edward was already there, looking like a statue. As I came in, he came alive, and stared at me.

I sat on the bed and crossed my arms stubbornly.

"Why are you so opposed to this?" he asked me, untying my arms from each other and holding my hands.

"You're not as invincible as you make yourself seem," I mutter.

"Hm. Well, I suppose you're right, but we outnumber him no matter what, so it's sort of a moot point."

I let him know about saving him each time.

He was about to argue, but closed his lips before saying, "moot point."

"How about the fact that two out of the three groups can anticipate Demetri's moves?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

I explained it to him.

"So, what are you suggesting?" he asked me, pursing his lips.

"Well, they could do what they were planning to do. In the separate groups, you know. Then, after they make the fake trails, they can take a car and meet up somewhere between the end of both of the trails. Voila! They're all safe - or at least, they'll all know if they are."

He scrutinized me for a second.

"What about Charlie?" he asked me.

"It's almost my birthday. One week, to be exact. Charlie would expect me to visit. I would go, and give him a present - two tickets to go to a fishing resort up in Seattle. He can't say no. He can take Billy,"

It was silent for a while, and by the time I had finished explaining my idea the whole family was in the room listening. Most of their jaws hung open in shock. It was kind of insulting.

"Wow," Edward finally said.

"Charlie'd be safe," Alice said with a nod.

"I like the idea of being at less risk and lower vulnerability," Rosalie admitted.

"It's settled, then," Carlisle smiled, "let's get ready."
