Bella's POV

"You have GOT to be kidding me," I said, glaring at the outfit Alice put on my bed, "there is no freaking way I am wearing that! I can barely walk in flats, on FLAT GROUND!"

"Stop screeching and just try it on." Alice commanded, throwing the gold cocktail dress at me, "I've already seen you put it on, and you love it. Also, you know there's no point in arguing with me. I will get you to wear it anyway. So there's no point in making it difficult."

I sighed and, unwillingly, shut the door in Alice's face and began to take off my clothes. I slipped on the sequiny dress - I had to admit, it was gorgeous - and bent down to slip off my black hightops to put on the gold strappy heels.

"She's really trying to kill me," I grumbled, strapping the latch on the side of the heel.
Finally, I put on the matching gold and diamond bangles and opened the door for Alice. She squealed in delight.

"Oh my god! You look better than in the vision!"

"Shh Alice! I don't want them to hear I put this on..."

"You're in a house full of vampires. They have heard the whole conversation. See? Watch," Alice lowered her voice to a whisper, "what's black and white and red all over?"

"A PENGUIN IN A BLENDER!" A booming voice yelled from downstairs, followed by guffawing laughs. Emmett. I gritted my teeth.

Alice pushed me toward the full body mirror and I peeked at myself. My jaw dropped.

"I look... good!" I said, watching my eyes grow bigger with every syllable.

"I know!" Alice squealed happily, jumping up and down like a child on Christmas morning.

Slowly, I shuffled toward the stairs outside the bathroom door and held on to Alice's arm as I walked down the stairs.

When I finally got to the bottom step, I saw him. My Edward, with my favorite crooked smile.

"You look beautiful," he said, grabbing my hand gently and kissing each knuckle.

I blushed deep scarlet, and, looking at him wearing a black tux said, "Well, you look pretty dashing yourself."

He smirked even more, and put his arm around my waist. He started towing me toward the living-room.

"Why are you making me do this, you know I hate parties," I mumbled, looking down at my unusually steady feet. I figured it was because Edward was almost holding me up so I wouldn't have to walk on the heels with all my weight.

"People need to think you're going to college if you want to be changed soon, love. A going away celebration party is the best way to convince people," Edward replied, lifting me up onto the slightly raised platform that went over to the love seat.

"Can't telling them work just as well?"

"Yes, I suppose, but who wouldn't celebrate their son going to college?"

"Son?"

"Well, the party is at our house, so people would assume Carlisle and Esme are throwing this for me, no?"

He stopped in front of the love seat and pulled me down onto his lap. Alice came out if no where and took a picture with her own camera. The flash stunned me.

Emmett, who was sitting on the couch in front of the TV to the corner of the love seat, laughed at my reaction, pushing Rosalie off his lap. Rosalie cracked a smile at seeing Emmett laugh so hard, until Alice glared at them and they went silent.

"Where's Carlisle, Esme, and Jasper?" I wondered out loud, glancing around the room.

"Hunting." Edward said simply, grabbing a lock of my hair and twisting it around his long fingers.
