Edward's POV

It's been 10 minutes, and I still can't read Jacob's mind. I swear to god, if he does what he was thinking...

I shuddered.

"That's it, I'm going to look for Bella." I told Emmett.

"Okay, man, hurry back before anyone notices," Emmett said, looking around at everyone here.

I nodded, and shrugged out the door. I ran through the woods at vampire speed. I ran for 10 seconds, and than I could hear Jacob's thoughts.

"Oh HELL no!" I growled, reading his mind. I ran faster.

I stopped in front of the stream about a mile behind my house. I saw that Jacob had Bella up against a tree, and he was kissing her and she was crying.

I didn't hesitate. I shoved Jacob into the stream, and Bella fell down crying. I kneeled down and wrapped my arms around her.

"Shh, it's okay, Bella,"

"M-m-m-my wrists, they h-h-hurt, and my w-w-waist!" she cried in between sobs. I froze, tightening my grasp a bit. I slowly unlocked her grasp around her legs and looked at her wrists. They were bruised, throbbing, and red. Slowly I helped her stand up, and lifted up her shirt just above her belly button. I saw the red finger marks, and traces them extremely lightly, and felt the throbbing. Though I couldn't trace any lighter, she still whimpered in pain.

"How... DARE... you... MONGREL!?" I roared, and grabbed him and threw him across the forest. I was about to go back to Bella, when Jacob charged at me and slammed me into the tree behind me. I saw Bella fall down crying again, and I roared, kicking Jacob in the gut. He changed into wolf form, and growled at me. I braced myself.

Jacob charged again, and I flipped him and slammed him to the ground. That's when he bit. And I howled in pain.

Bella's POV

I heard someone howl in pain.

I quickly wiped my tears and glanced up.

No. NO. No, no, no!!

Not him. NOT HIM!

I got up off the ground an walked over to Edward, laying on the ground with his marble hand laying next to him.

"GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE, JACOB!" I screamed, new tears forming.

Jacob glared at me, and ran off.

I looked down at Edward and his eyes were closing.

"No, Edward, look at me! You have to keep your eyes open, okay!? I'll get you back to Carlisle! He can fix you! Okay!?" I stroked Edward's cheek.

Edward looked at me, his eyes melted butterscotch. "I thought I had him," he murmured, chuckling lightly, "are you alright?"

"Don't worry about me right now, Edward. We have to get help for you!"

He reached up and wiped my tears away.

"You don't have to cry for me, Bella. It's just my hand. Carlisle will fix it up in no time,"

I stood up, shaking my head, "Edward, you're too damn modest. Let me take you back, alright?"

He sighed, and stood up. I picked up his hand off the ground and I couldn't help but cringe.

"I'll carry it if you'd like," he said, holding out his good hand for the ice-sculpture-like one in my hand.

"No, it's okay." I said, and put his arm around my shoulders.
