Once again I visited the park, both hopefully and hopelessly.
Hopeful that I'd see him.
Hopeless that I could be with him.
After all, why would he draw someone he wasn't interested in?
I sat under the tree and waited while writing.
Yasmine sat under a peculiar tree in an isolated garden.
She was waiting for someone to come.
Someone to watch, while he watched her.
She was aware, that the guy she was looking at always looked at her and drew her.
And she liked it.
That day, when he came, she decided that passing smiles and eye contacts won't be enough. She wanted more.
She wanted to know him, him to know her.She wrote her name in her notebook and showed it to him. She knew it won't be long, that she wouldn't have to hold up that notebook for long because he was already staring at her.
He smiled, a little red hue covered his ears.
He reciprocated the gesture and showed her his name too.
Jacinth.
And just as I finished and looked around, I saw him very close to me.
But in reality he was very close to her.
It was just a coincidence that she was very close to me.
They were talking, sweetly and calmly.
Almost lovingly. That ignited an emotion within me, one we so infamously call jealousy.
What was I jealous of though?
The girl who was liked by the man I liked. But indeed he liked her, so it was never me. Why should I be jealous? I don't have any right. While I watched them, I drew them. Laughing, smiling together. A constant reminder that he was with her.
And I was not her, I'll never be.
Suddenly he said something that made her stand up. He followed the action too.
At first, her expression seemed to be of anger and surprise. His was regretful.
But soon, her face turned bright, ecstatic with joy. She said something loudly, but strangely I couldn't hear her.
And now he was the one taken aback.
And I drew them like that. Just like that.
