Chapter 28

Bitter Past

Wherever we go or whatever do or acheiev our past stays with us, sometimes it haunts us, sometimes it makes us smile. However the truth is, it is the past that makes us the person we grew up to be.

After patiently hearing to all the curses that Eden mumbled to himself about how selfish he was and he did not deserve his life and it was better if he died instead, Mirca couldn't take it any more.

"Please stop Eden" she begged.

"What happened? What did you forget? What is hurting you so bad?" she tried one at a time but she wanted to know so many things and couldn't hold herself.

Suddenly as if realizing that she was here though he very well knew all the while that she was here but for the first time he didn't feel any restraint in opening up to someone. Even Gia was not exposed to this side of him.

He looked at the worried face of Mirca not helping but feeling guilty about troubling her.

He stared at her for a long time, his eyes still; hurt as she'd spaced out at the same place at the same past that was hurting him so much.

"What did you forget?' Mirca asked again softly. Opening him gradually was the best idea at the moment.

A line of tears drenching his cheek and as a reflex his hand reaching to wipe it off 'men don't cry'

But Mirca stopped him midway "Its okay. I wont judge you. Let it out."

Eden stared at her non-blinkingly. Her concern for him made his insides melt as she repeated "Let it all out."

'I lost them today." He whispered but Mirca was close and attentive enough to hear and she could actually feel the dryness of his throat as he added "My parents."

Mirca gasped as she remembered Dargena's words "Your parents died because of her."

Spacing herself from him and avoiding any eye contact she asked, "you too believe that I was the reason behind their death?" her chest constricting as she waited for the answer that was about to come her way.

"No they died because of me." He admitted.

"No Eden no." she cupped his face in her hands and all his control issues melted like a mercury under the sun "as she added "No don't punish yourself like this. You would never be the cause of anyone's death. You are too good to do that.'

Eden stifled a short laugh, which was humorless "You don't know anything. You have been ignorant about everything. Everything that you and me, we have caused"

He rested his head on her shoulders like a little kid looking for the comfort of his mother when he was hurt and she didn't mind a bit.

"For once Eden" Mirca pressed "please trust me and let it all out."

It was the day we met for the first time in that play park.

Mirca now remembered fully but kept mum scared a tiny hindrance would make him stop and she wanted to know

"Oh she is such a pretty doll," Georgena cooed as she let an eight-year-old Eden to go and play with her.

"Awe! They are sweet together but Eden is such a shy kid I wonder if he would go and talk to her" Felipe said smiling at his son.

"See he is helping her, my baby. You always underestimate, my son" Gorgena glared at her husband.

"I am not underestimating him, I am simply stating how cultured our son is." Felipe amended. He loved his wife too much to disappoint her at their small family time.
