Chapter 8

Am I Going Crazy

Blaming others would only calm you for the lest

Blaming self will help you change and leave the rest

All the clues and evidences were going against Mirca with an added reality that the motive of the murder was very strong; she’d be the sole owner of Cole’s property being his legally wedded wife.
Even Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson too seconded the accusing lawyer as the marriage was too sudden and if ever Mirca isn't expecting Cole’s child that probably would be the only reason that she forced Cole into an early marriage.
Little do they know that it was Cole who was madly in love with her and did not want to stay away from her for a day let alone for three years span that the project was going to take.
He went out of the way keeping his project on one table and pictures of Cole and Mirca well arranged in another from the day they met as his best friend’s sibling to the day she went on his birthday when he realized that she is cute and beautiful later to the day when three of them went swimming at the lake when he saw her in bikini for the first time, earning a smack from Darwin to drool over his sister he realized that she is the most beautiful girl with beauty personifying perfection and the latest when he saw her dating with another guy at a restaurant sharing drinks from the same glass, he developed a new feeling called jealousy and instantly knew that he had fallen for her. Scared of her brother and his best friend he never proposed her till she came crying about the bullying that she got about being the only girl of her age who’s without a boyfriend and also a virgin and he couldn't help but propose her and there were plenty of them after that, their first date, first kiss, kind of first night when they did nothing but sleep.
He joined both the models with a cable wire from oe of his sites, a ring hanging on the cable.
Hopelessly unromantic...
But this is how he is. His life was hanging between the two, his career and his love and only thing that could bind was marriage and commitments.

So he proposed her in most technical -the only language that he knew.
Cole being the one and only guy in her life and deprived of sex she immediately agreed and also she knew that he loved her nonchalantly and trusted him that he’d keep her happy all her life, she agreed to it...
Poor Mirca was suffering from the wrath of Cole’s parents whose grief had been swapped by agitation for Mirca.

“You! You killed my baby.

You killed my only son

You killed Cole” were Mrs. Jefferson’s words that were echoing in her head and giving a stinging, dagger piercing pain in her heart that had her only son settled in it.

Every time she tried to shut her ears, the voice of Sandra’s accusation echoed in her ears.

Not that she didn’t partially blame herself for Cole’s death but being accused of brutally murdering him for money, she’d rather die…

Mirca tried not to cry to sleep but eventually gave up when her shoulders slumped on the pillow.
Fortunately Eden was they’re waiting for her. He knew of all days today she needed him the most.
Being accused of the death of someone you deeply care for and plan to live a whole life with especially in front of panel of judges, lawyers, family and other audience is really unnerving.
He’s been through that...
“Thanks for coming” Mirca mumbled in her sleep.
“I had to Leevie” Eden replied kissing her forehead. He couldn't see her in so much pain.
“Aren't you angry at Cole’s parents?” Eden asked making Mirca wide awake as she sat on the bed resting her head on the bed post.
“No I am not... Honestly” she added after looking at Eden’s estranged expression.
“Why?” Eden couldn't help asking.
“See it's easier that way. I feel they are lucky to have someone to put the blame on for their grief. At least they have me to be blamed. I on the other hand can only blame ...me” and she broke into sobs.
Eden couldn't help hugging Mirca “Ssshhhh…. Leevie Please don't cry. It would pass.”
“No it wouldn't. It would never go. I killed him,” Mirca said guiltily.
“How can you kill him?” Eden asked perplexed.
“Only if I hadn't faked anger with him, he wouldn't have parked the vehicle or would have driven straight to the resort. I killed him.” Mirca repeated.
“But why were you angry with him?” Eden couldn't help asking.
“No I told I faked anger and that was because he forced kissed me.” She explained.
“Forced kissed?” Eden was shocked. Isn't it a ritual to kiss the bride why would Cole ever have to force?”
“Yeah the moment Cole was about to kiss me, I was getting repulsions and I couldn't let him kiss me.” She blurted the truth for the first time.
People in your dreams do not judge you.
“Can you explain in detail?” Eden was intrigued. He hadn’t ever heard about such a thing.
“Yeah I was not able to kiss and seal the marriage. Even though he forced a kiss but it was on my chin just below the lips” Mirca placed her finger just below her lips oblivion of diverting Eden’s attention towards her soft luscious pinks
How badly he wanted to feel them!

Eden quickly mentally smacked himself getting himself away from his thoughts
“So when we were in the car I was worried about such reaction from my body and Cole thought I was angry and therefore he parked the car at the side of the road under the tree.” She added “trust me HE himself parked the car under the tree. There wasn't any accident.”
Eden nodded in understanding. He knew that part. Rather he was the one to save Mirca.

But repulsions!!!  While having a bridal kiss, the Judy needs to know.
“You would also think I am mad when I share the most tragic and weird part about how a snake strangled him to death and his face ensembles to a human for a split second.” And Mirca’s hands trembled as she recalled those memories and the red pupils of the human faced snake.
“I am mad Eden, I am going crazy, I am assuming things” and Mirca started crying in his arms.
“No Leevie you aren't mad and most importantly you are not assuming things.” he felt the urge to tell her to comfort her. She’d already been through lot and this crazy feeling would really make her insane.
“What you mean to say the snake with human’s head was for real?” Mirca asked with hope in her eyes. She’d feel so much better if it was not assumption. Maybe she might figure out who’d tamper with Cole’s car.
“Leevie there’s lot you don't know and need to know but for now please make sure that you are NOT crazy,” he said looking directly into her eyes.
“What do I need to know Eden please tell.” Mirca went impatient. She suddenly felt that there was much more to this. There was lot more than she could see with her naked eyes.
“Please tell Eden. What do I need to know?” Mirca almost sobbed.
The knocking of the door muffled with Mirca’s soft sobbing groans brought panic to Eden’s face. He couldn't be caught.

Even if it is a dream, a small assurance that what she saw and experienced was real would do wonder, if not anything ; maybe keep her sane.
“Someone’s on the door” he told Mirca thanking internally to her for locking the door closed before drifting to sleep. Having too much to bother about Mirca’s pain and hurt he’d completely forgotten to latch it like he’d do all these days.
Mirca stands on her feet avoiding to tumble because of the pillow that she’d dropped on the floor while sleeping, her childhood habit.  She ’d take lots of pillows to sleep and end up throwing couple of them on the floor.
“You okay?” her mom asked.
“Yeah I am fine.” Mirca answered tugging her messy hair behind tying them in a bun. Don't they say that pleasant appearance might hide your mood, hers was pretty foul at the moment.
“You were crying.” Her mom asked concerned.
“Mom I said I am okay.” Mirca snapped back but it wasn’t on purpose but a reflex, too many sympathies were bugging her.

“Sorry dear. It was just that I heard commotions from your room like you were talking” she peeped in to check if she had a company but the room was empty. “But I guess you were crying.”
“No mom I was sleeping.” Mirca insisted.
“Are you sure darling?” Her mom asked confused. I am sure I heard conversations.
She turned around to check confused and said “see mom there’s nobody in the room. Maybe I was sleep talking.”
Her mom gave her a sympathetic nod and was about to leave when Mirca stopped her and hugged her.
After clinging to her mom for a long time Mirca asks her “Mom do you think I am going crazy?”
