Chapter 18
Cheonwu's POV
"Thank you, Cheonwu, I really appreciate it." Minori replied with an absent smile to my suggestion
This encounter has been one that was emotionally draining on her- it was easy and clear for all to see when she led her chestnut red steed, Ariel, away absently, ignoring the concerned looks that Trish shot at her and the many cries of her name that Trish called out.
My fingers curled into fists naturally by my side as I took in the state that she was in because of him.
Again.
I guess, even amnesia is not enough to put a stop to the heart that beat for him.
I am too late .
Again.
A bitter smile crept onto my face as I came to the realisation that even now, with the short period of time with him, and the memory loss about everything that happened during her previous travel here, I still lost against him-that bastard who hurt her so deeply both physically and emotionally.
"Thanks Cheonwu. Thanks for sticking up for her earlier on." Trish's voice suddenly sounded beside me.
"Since when did you get here ? I thought you went after her." I mumbled in surprise as I realised how close she was from me. With a big stride, I took a step away from her before turning around to walk back to my tent.
With a little jog, Trish trailed after me.
Trish gave a roll of her eyes, at my response before she replied again " Apparently somebody only has eyes for Minori. I was here all along , and I saw the way you looked at her. You better watch the way you look at her though, she is supposed to be your cousin's wife , the way you look at her could get her into trouble."
She's right. This is not the twenty first century, my feelings for her could get her into serious trouble. But , did it really mean that I have to give up again ? I stood back once, and look where it got them ? Does that really mean that I have to do it again, just because she was currently playing the role of my cousin's wife?
Perhaps it was because of the way I had so much on my mind, but the walk back to my tent felt extremely short. Before our conversation could even start properly, I was already back at the entrance of my tent, lifting up the flap so that Trish could go in before me.
"Regardless of all that drama that has occurred previously , I'm glad that things got to this stage. This is the perfect catalyst for things to change." Trish suddenly added again, after I entered after her.
My eyes widened in disbelief when I heard what she has just said, incredulous about the strange, or rather, outrageous perception that she had.
"Do you even know what you are saying? You knew how he treated her previously , and yet... yet you are in support of the way things have progressed? I knew you were dumb , but I didn't know that you are this dumb." I finished with utter disbelief. Why would she even think that this is a good idea, especially with the way things has turned out ? I could not quite understand the way she think, especially since she was one of the few people who knew the entire story and the things that transacted during Minori's first time travelling experience.
The ancient chinese had this particular proverb that went "nu zi yu xiao ren nan yang ye", which literally meant that women were as difficult to deal with as evildoers. Up till this moment, I have always thought that the proverb was sexist.
But, I guess they did have some part of it right afterall.
In the next moment, I had to pay for the comment that I made about her intelligence.
