Chapter 24
Minori's POV
From afar, we might have looked like the very picture of marital bliss, the perfect illusion of a beautiful couple that was very in love. Yet, the reality was much more cruel.
We were a couple fighting for dominance.
The excitement that I might have once had towards his kisses only turned into pure disgust at his attempt to force his wishes upon me again.
Powerful arms restrained only by the thin silk robe that symbolised his status as the almighty son of the lord that ruled this land, gripped onto my own tightly, his slender fingers turning into sharp talons that ripped into the thin cotton robe that I had on at the moment. His teeth nibbled hurtfully at my lips, seeking for entrance into a world that I am denying him of. My poor arms could only push against his chest futilely as I try to pry him off me.
This is definitely not going to work, if I go on with the demure lady treatment. At this rate, who knows what the hell is going to happen next after he...No! I must stop him before he has the chance to continue things any further!
With that, I decided to execute my little dragon kick to his shin.( Well, little is kind of an understatement over here. Its should be called 'Mammoth dragon kick' instead)As much as I might have hated Sebestian, I must admit that the self defence lessons that I have learned from him were indeed effective.
As usual, little dragon never fails.
Kame detached himself from me, wincing in pain as he rubbed his sore shin furiously. In a way, I knew that I was even lucky to get a kick in his shin like that, given his proficiency in the martial arts, with the numerous number of years he spent in his training. But then again, I had the advantage of a sneak attack when he least expected it.
And he should thank me for not kicking him where he will hurt the most. Little Kame will never come to the world if I ever did that.
'Why in your right mind would you even do that for woman? Are you trying to murder your husband in bed?" Kame exclaimed furiously as his chocolate brown eyes sent daggers in my direction. I am pretty sure I would have been dead by now, if looks could kill.
"Let us get a few things straight over here, my lord. Firstly, by law, I am not your lawful wife. My name is Minori Demertee. I am absolutely certain that you know that the true name of Princess Ke Jing is anything but that. Therefore, although slightly unfortunate to have caused this confusion while I have adopted this identity, you are not my husband. Secondly, this is not something to be taken lightly. I am only taking measures against a lecherous man attempting to take advantage of me." I huffed, crossing my arms across my chest.
For a second, a flash of incredulity and shock flashed across his eyes, a rare sight that I have not seen in a long time.
Unfortunately, it did not last for long as he regained his composure quickly.
"Hmmm....Lecherous man huh? If memories were to serve me well correctly, I am certain that a little someone used to enjoy these touches," he paused, adding his usual smirk. He took a small stroll towards the stool set on the table besides the bed before planting his royal ass down. With a lazy smile, he propped his chin up in an elegant movement with his hands. Long dark locks that would make most women envious, cascaded down his dark blue robe like a mesmerising ink black fountain.
I could not help but blush furiously in response as I silently cursed the young and foolish idiot of a child I was.
"In addition, I would like to let you know as well of a certain fact. What you are committing right now is an act of fraud. Posing as the royal princess of Qing engaged in a marriage with a Prince of Mongolia will warrant death. Execution of the most excruciating order ever thought possible." He added nonchalantly again.
Immediately, I could feel the blush on my face dying away as blood drained away from my face.I have not thought of the possible implications of being an imposter! To think I even wanted to continue this façade at the start!
Perhaps seeing my discomfort, Kame rose from his seat and came towards me, bending his large frame such that we were now looking at each other at eye's level.
With a softer tone, he began, "The only alternative that you have left is to forget about Minori Demertee. Forget about everything else. Live as Aisin Gioro Ke Jing if you still value your life."
His warm breath fanned my face softly , as he wrapped his fingers around my arms. Again.
Although the current moment was not the perfect moment to be thinking of this, I could not help but question why he had the habit of putting his hands around my arms when he spoke. Why can't he ever speak properly without laying his hands on me?
"In the name of Borjigit Dunduobudorji, the name that I was blessed with, I will promise to do all that is in my power to ensure that you remain alive. I will do everything in my ability to ensure that you will live on happily as you like, the way that I should have done when God blessed me with you the first time round." His eyes gazed into mine deeply as he made his proclamation.
My eyes widened as I understood the true meaning behind his words. His words sounded sincere, his gaze appeared serious. But, words could be deceiving, appearances as nothing more than an excuse. Miya's downfall was the perfect illustration of the consequences of believing in a delusion that was too beautiful to be true. Can I really trust him again?
In the midst of all my internal turmoil, I felt something soft and warm land on my forehead.
"Get some rest and sleep. I will leave for now." His voice sounded vaguely, accompanying the sound of the opening of the flap of the tent.
It was only until he left that I realised what the thing in contact with my forehead was.
It was his kiss.
A seal of his promise.
