Chapter 14

Minori's POV

To say that I was shocked would be the biggest understatement of the century. The emotion that I had at the moment, crushed against a stranger was definitely beyond shock.

Even if the guy who was hugging me was really hot ,smelled extremely nice,and gave me a strong sense of security and safety,I am pretty sure what he was doing at the moment was kind of wrong.

Right?

I mean,wasn't it taboo for a man to hug a woman so casually during these times, especially when they are not even married.Besides, I was technically the wife of his cousin, which made it even more wrong for him to be hugging me at the moment.

"I'm so glad that you came back, I thought you went back for good." Cheonwu murmured softly against my ear.

If it was even possible, that warm breath of his against my ear made me freeze even more in my awkward position.

Trish, who still appeared shell shocked, started shakily," Erm...I'm sorry, but I believe you have gotten the wrong person. Min-I mean my mistress , Princess Ke Jing of the Qing Empire, has never been here before her marriage to the Prince."

At that , Cheonwu lifted his head.

With a smile that could only be described as amused, he started, "No, I'm absolutely sure I've gotten the correct person Tricia.Oh wait, my mistake, I believe you would like to be addressed as Trish right?Did I remember correctly Minori ?"

My eyes widened as I heard the question that he threw my way. With my widened vision, I could see Trish's stunned expression as well.

What the heck? How does he know all of these ? And how did he know our real names?

But before I could voice my question out , I was pulled away violently by another pair of strong arms.

"What are you guys doing ? " Kame asked in a tight voice as he wrapped his arms around my waist in what appeared to be a possessive manner.

With clenched jaws, Cheonwu gave him a cold hard stare before speaking.

"It was nothing. I was just getting myself acquainted with Princess Ke Jing."

"I see. Well, the night is late. I believe it is time for me and my wife to retire back to our place.My dear wife must have been dying to get to bed after our long and tiring journey to get here. " Kame replied with a tone that screamed hostility.

Cheonwu gave us, or rather just Kame, another long challenging stare before leaving with angry strides

I could only watch in silence as the exchange that occurred just moments ago continued to baffle me , making me wonder how Cheonwu knew about our secret.

"What are you still looking at? He's long gone already." Kame said with a sneer on his face, clearly misunderstanding my silence as pining for Cheonwu ,or maybe something along those lines.

With a roll of my eyes and a scowl on my face, I pulled Trish towards me before leaving for our accommodations for the night.

I was not in the mood to continue this ridiculous conversation with all the unanswered questions in my mind.

" So, care to share with me what you guys were doing earlier on ?" Kame asked curiously as he settled down on his side of the large bed that we were sharing.

Trish has returned to her quarters for the night , leaving me with Kame in the tent that would probably be our room for the rest of the time we keep us this farce of a marriage.

"Getting acquainted, like what he said. " I mumbled as I used my blanket to create a barrier between the two of us.

Even though I was okay with sharing a bed with Kame and all, the lesson that I learned from the first night we shared a bed together was not something that I would like to experience again anytime soon.

"Really ? Maybe it is different in the Qing Empire, but when we get acquainted with others here, we don't exactly go around hugging others,especially those of the opposite sex."

"There is nothing going on between us okay? We were really just getting acquainted." I snapped impatiently. I was too tired both physically and mentally to actually share such a useless conversation with him.

"What are you trying to imply here ?That Cheonwu and I are in some kind of illicit relationship? I have more integrity than that, especially since I'm playing the role of your wife.Besides, you are not even my real husband, so I don't think you have the rights to que-"

I wasn't able to complete the rest of my sentence because my lips ended up being sealed.

By the lips of the Prince who has crossed the blanket barrier that lay between us.

I'm super sorry for this update that is long overdue. School started and things got hectic and I couldn't really find the time I needed to write.
