The clock had already ticked past 8 a.m., so I asked Ruby to inform the teacher about my tardiness and let her know that I would be arriving shortly.
A few minutes later, I stood before the classroom door. I knocked three times to alert the teacher to my presence. Soon, I heard approaching footsteps.
"Good morning, you must be Hoshino-kun, right?" the teacher inquired as she opened the door.
I nodded, offering a polite greeting. "I am, good morning, sensei. I apologize for being late."
She smiled reassuringly. "It's okay. Your sister informed me that you had to take your medicines and needed some extra rest this morning. I hope you're feeling better now."
"Thank you for your concern, Horikita-sensei," I replied.
I had requested Miyako to tell the school that I was feeling unwell and needed an additional week to study medicine. I had shared my ambition of becoming a doctor with her and she understood the importance of this in my current situation.
"Alright, everyone, this is the student who was absent due to illness for a week. Hoshino-san, you can introduce yourself now."
I nodded and faced my new classmates, offering a friendly smile. While fake, it was well practiced and only someone with sharp skills could tell the difference. The only exception was Ruby, who could see right through it for obvious reasons. "Nice to meet you, everyone. My name is Hoshino Aqua, and I'm Ruby's twin brother. As for my hobbies I..." I said some of your typical hobbies a high school boy may have just to insert myself in the class.
The teacher then directed me to an empty desk at the back of the classroom, next to a girl named Nakano Itsuki. As I walked toward my seat, I couldn't help but notice that some of the girls were stealing glances at me, one of them included a girl with butterfly ribbons who shot me a glare.
"Nice to meet you, Hoshino-kun. I'm Nakano Itsuki," the girl sitting beside me greeted me with a warm smile.
"Nice to meet you too, Nakano-san."
As I settled into my seat next to her, I couldn't help but notice that a few more students were looking in my direction, whispering amongst themselves. It appeared that my late arrival had stirred some curiosity.

During lunch break, Ruby and I headed towards the cafeteria and spotted our friend Fuutarou who was engrossed in conversation with a girl from our class, Nakano Itsuki. They appeared to be having an intense discussion.
"Looks like they're in the middle of something," I remarked.
Ruby sighed, her brow furrowing. "Itsuki-chan seems pretty mad at him. Poor Fuutarou, what did he do this time?"
