Inside the maze is full of twists. Even though I ran last, I quickly caught up with the other Gladers. Making sure I follow the Runners, or at least the one I currently trust, Minho.

He didn't have to look back to make sure I was near him, he knew I was a fast runner.

Everything went well at first, no sign of the Grievers the whole way through. Then finally we arrived at the place. The place where Minho and Thomas call the Griever's den.

We cautiously entered the cave-like room. On either side of the bridge is a ravine, so deep that all we can see is black and dark.

Then there, the sound of gravel falling. We turned back. Several Grievers jumped from under the bridge, as well as from the door. We braced, mounted, and battled, putting our lives and freedoms on the line.

With the short knife that Minho gave me in the Glade, I managed to slash several parts of the Griever's body that was charging towards me.

I kicked back two Grievers, knocking one of them into the void. As for the other one, somehow I managed to retract one of its legs after sliced deep enough in that hideous slimy body, causing it to fall unbalanced.

Letting that moment of momentary victory take the lead, I looked back to see if there were any other Gladers who needed my help.

Jeff screamed at me, "Maeve! Behind-," a warning that is too slow for the engine's very fast motion. When I managed to face forward again, one of the monster's legs that I had knocked down stuck into my shoulder, making me fall to the ground, crushed by the weight of his body when he stood up.

One of the lessons I failed to apply, when you are fighting, never look away from your enemy.

The machine wasted no time in carrying its tail which contained a syringe and thrusting it into my left thigh.

I groaned really loudly.

Pain.

Burning.

It's hurts!

I felt uncomfortable due to the stab of a foreign object sticking into my shoulder and thigh, as well as the pain and blood pouring out of my body.

I was still screaming in pain, but within seconds, the Griever's body that was pressing on me immediately rolled into the abyss.

Newt and Minho ran towards me, holding my body which was lying in pain.

"Maeve, stick with me!" asked Minho with a very desperate voice. Then he screams at whoever is standing to enter the code, "is it taking that long?! Maeve, she needs the serum!"

Then  I heard Teresa's voice replied, "Bring her here! I still have one last serum."

Without excessive effort, Minho brought me easily towards the door. Just as the BEEP sounded and the exit opened.

Shit.

I can't feel my body now.

It's too cold and dark in here.

Minho, Minho.

Is my voice heard?

Did my voice make it out of my mouth?

Shit.

My eyelids feel heavy now.

I want to sleep....

I thought I was dead. I don't know how long I was unconscious, but a loud bang made my eyes open slightly.

Just for five seconds. I saw Gally's body fall with a spear in his chest.

Then everything went back to black.

Only a faint sound that managed to be heard by me.

The faint sound of footsteps, the faint sound of a very strong wind above my head.

Then Minho's voice, which sounded clearer than the others, "we made it out together, Maeve."
