Rowans P.O.V

It was Prince Fehl!

Obviously that wasnt his real name, just a nickname. If anyone knew a fairy's full name then they could order them about as they wish. They just had to add the fae's name at the beginning of the sentence. The only person who knew a fae's full name was the fae itself and the father and mother. Nobody else.

Fae where also not very fond of the Rowan tree. There's something about that particular plant which repels them. The Rowan tree is full of good magic, and it pains the fairys to go near. I guess that's why my mother named me Rowan.

I wait with baited breath for Prince Fehl to announce my presence to the rest of the Royal court. But he just stood there and watched me. His eyes were pitch black but not dull, they were surprisingly bright. His ears were not as pointy as an elderly fae but more pointier than a human. See, a fae and a human look identical until the age of sixteen which is when a fae child would grow pointed ears and their eyes would become black.

That's what happened to Idra, my identical twin on our sixteenth birthday.

***** Flash back *****

I wake up quickly when a high scream pierces through the chilly early morning air. I turn to my right and I scream myself. Idra is there. Clutching her pointed ears, her completely black eyes looking around her frantically. She sees me awake and runs to my side.

"Rowan," She begged,"Please, tell me I'm wrong! Tell me I look perfectly normal, perfectly HUMAN!"

When I don't answer she sinks down to the ground and starts rocking backwards and forwards. "I don't want to be one of them," she whimpers, tears streaming down her face.

I crawl over to her and put an arm around her, trying to get her to calm down. There must be a reasonable explanation for this. It must be a prank one of the kids played, or a very very sick joke. But deep down I know that's not true. She's one of them now, in a couple of hours she won't even remember me anymore. Her human feelings will be clouded with those of a fae's, greed.

I hug her tight, and curse myself when I feel a tear slip down my cheek. I promised myself I would never cry again after mother died. But I really don't care right now. I lost everyone I've ever cared about, my mother, Idra. My mother...my beautiful, selfless mother. A memory comes back to me, making me tense up. When we were 14, she told us our father was fae. Like she knew what was coming, what would happen to one of us. Idra and I were identical twins. So I guess Idra got all the fae blood, and I got all the human.

***** end of flashback *****

Prince Fehl looks at me curiously. I then felt that my cheeks where wet with tears. I wipe them away furiously. I realised that the Royal court had long since moved away to another part of the ginormous dungeon. And when I say ginormous, I MEAN ginormous. As in big enough to fit a tenth of the human race.

"What are you doing?" I jump at the sound of Prince Fehl's voice.

I turn round to look at him. As with everyone on this planet he was gorgeous. Stylishly messy jet black hair in a sort of quiff. Long slender fingers and a surprisingly slim figure. I mean he was well toned but not really muscular. His flawless skin was as pale as the moon and he was taller than me by about a head.

"I could ask you the same question," I reply, crossing my arms and staring at him intently.

He smiles slightly,"I'm hiding from my father. The king, if you didn't know I'm Prince Fehl-"

"Yeah yeah, I know who you are," I said pointing at the royal crest on his lapel," But the question is, why are you hiding from him?"

He sighs,"My father is forcing me into marriage. I do not want to marry the other kingdoms princess, but I do not want to betray my duties as future king either."

"Right," I say," And you're hiding out in a wardrobe because...?"

"Because I'm trying to postpone the wedding," he sighs,"to think things over."

He seems to mentally shake himself,"why am I telling you this anyway?" he asks," I shouldn't have said all that."

"I just have that kind of trustable and honest face," I say smiling sweetly up at him.

He snorts and even gives me a little smile. "You know, most humans would be trembling in my presence right now. You just seem to be giving me attitude."

I shrug and put my hand on the door, ready to peek out to see if the coast was clear. I felt a warm hand grip my wrist softly and pull me back. I found myself face to face with Prince Fehl, our faces so close that the tips of our noses where touching. His black eyes seemed to glow golden for a second. I saw him glance down at my lips as he leant forwards to kiss me.

-------------------------------

OMG OMG OMG. so what do you think? Do you want Fehl to kiss Rowan. Or do you think it's just a recipe for disaster?

Let me know when you comment.
