After dinner, Priz and Cap headed down to the sparring room for the first time in what felt like years.
The air felt much different than it had before. No animosity or aggression, just excitement and a little bit of nerves.
"Ready to give magic a shot?" she smiled, standing across from him with about ten feet of clearance.
He nodded, finding it hard to look at her now. The last time they were here together he'd nearly painted the wall with her blood. Now she was looking at him kindly with a spark in her eyes and a very pregnant belly.
Steve couldn't imagine ever hurting her again. Especially not now.
"Don't worry, blondie, I'll go easy on you." She gave a smirk that he copied, slightly unsure as he positioned his left hand in front.
"Here, put out the light." She held up a dully glowing hand. "I'll let you do it, if you can."
He nodded, waving his hand to the side like swatting away a little bug. Sure enough, the light on her hand flicked away.
"Nice!" she smiled, turning to use her magic to lift one of the training dummies and slowly float it toward him.
"Make me drop the dummy."
He repeated the action, but it kept coming toward him. He gave her a questioning look.
"Try a new approach." She suggested.
Steve slowly swept his hand through the air, feeling the magic connect like magnets. The dummy was rerouted to bump into the wall.
"Well done."
Steve beamed at her complements.
"Ready for the rapid fire, Captain?" she asked, looking excited, her magic formed blunt ended sticks, like throwing knives without points.
His heart fluttered a little and he gave a smirk and a solute that made her blush before taking a stance more confidently this time.
With an excited spark in her eyes, she flung the sticks at him and to her surprise he swatted them all away, making them bounce off the wall and evaporate.
"Yes!" she punched the air, pausing to touch her belly as Nora responded to her excitement. "Daddy is gonna be all ready for you." She rubbed her belly.
"Not that that's a challenge!" Steve laughed as he jogged over to also place his hand on her moving belly, pressing a kiss to her temple.
They had a sweet moment before he took a few steps back and readied himself again.
"Priz I gotta tell ya,"
She looked at him, amused.
"I have always wanted to try and punch through your forcefields. Do you think I can now?" he looked at the ring on his hand.
"The way I've been pulling my magic to toddler level, yes."
He nodded. "Let's do it." Shifting his feet a little with excitement of his own.
"But for the record, if I really wanted to kick your ass- I totally could." She winked, brimming with confidence.
"I no longer doubt that." He chuckled.
She mocked being offended. "I cant believe you ever thought brute strength could beat magic."
He shrugged, "I was an arrogant bastard."
Priz giggled, "Now that I can agree with."
She took a step out and raised a light purple force field with minimal power and pushed it toward him.
