When Jake got home it was now midnight. He pulled his car into the driveway, trying not to be loud. He turned it off and got out of his car. He closed the door before heading up to his front door. Jake opened the door slowly and the house was pitch black. He closed the door and a gentle click from the door sounded. He tip-toed over to the stairs, and step by step he slowly headed up to his room.

Once he got to his room, he closed his door, and it was pitch black inside. He turned on his lamp which was sitting on his computer desk before he let out all the air he was holding in. He kicked off his shoes, putting them by his desk before taking off his hoodie and tossing it beside his laundry basket. He took his phone out of his back pocket and set it on his desk. He finally jumped on his bed and laid on his back, staring up at the ceiling before he turned over and closed his eyes.

"Mom," Jake called out, running downstairs into the kitchen. "Mom."

He rummaged through the cabinets and the drawers' tossing things behind him.

"Mom," Jake hollered at the top of his lungs while slamming his hands on the countertop of the island.

"God dammit," he cursed in a hushed voice.

He rushed around the island now heading over to the living room. He started at the chair, tossing the throw pillows to the ground before he looked underneath the cushions. He switched over to the couch next doing the same thing.

"What the hell are you doing, Jake," his mom spoke, holding her phone against her chest.

"I can't find my phone," Jake exclaimed, quickly looking up at her. "I set it on my desk last night and when I woke up this morning it was gone."

"Yeah, because I took it," his mom spoke.

"What," Jake snapped, rushing around the couch to get over to his mom. "Why?"

"What do you mean why, Jake," his mom snapped back. "How 'bout you tell me why you're coming home at twelve o'clock in the morning?"

"What are you talking about," Jake asked, trying to sound innocent.

"Don't play dumb with me. I'm not stupid, I heard your car pull up in the driveway."

Jake sighed and looked away from his mom.

"Now tell me, why are coming home so late?"

"I was at Faith's house," Jake lied, looking at her again.

"No, you weren't," his mom said quickly.

"Yes, I was," Jake argued back.

"I called her mom, and she said you weren't there."

Jake rolled his eyes before his mom told him that they'll finish the conversation after school. Jake jogged back upstairs, grabbing his car keys before leaving the house.

When he got to school all his friends were standing in a circle by the big tree possibly talking about Gigi's party. Jake parked his car and then headed over to his friends after shutting his car off.

"Jake," Gigi quickly spoke first once he got to them. "Should we invite Nikki to the party?"

"No," Jake replied.

"I told you he'd say that," Chase exclaimed. "Because if you invite her then you're going to have to invite Hamilton."

"And I can guarantee no one wants him there," Shane added. "Especially Seth."

"Okay. Okay. No Nikki," Gigi said.

"So, Jake," Kylie spoke. "What happened with you and Seth yesterday after we called you?"
