"What was the place called? Scoops Ahoy right?" Dustin asked.
Kimberly locked her car as the two of them walked towards the entrance, "Yep, Scoops Ahoy. Apparently, he has a coworker called Robin and she's like really cool and stuff."
"You two wrote letters to each other?"
"Ya of course we did, we patched up our friendship remember? Friends send each other letters."
"Oh ya? Well did you write letters to your friend you saw yesterday?"
"Yes in fact I did. It's why I knew what time to get there to hang out before the show."
"Do you have a secret boyfriend or girlfriend? Because if you do you would tell me right? I told you about Suzie like immediately."
She chuckled, "Dusty, chill I do not have a boyfriend. And I do not have a girlfriend. No significant others for me. Come on," she playfully bumped his shoulder, "You'd be the first person I'd tell if I actually got into a relationship."
"And yet you still won't tell me the name of that one person from like two summers ago?"
She rolled her eyes, "That wasn't a relationship. Not a romantic one at least, and you know we still talk all the time just not like that."
"Can't I know their name?" Dustin groaned.
"Nope, because it's none of your business. It's in the past and besides, I have my eye on someone entirely different."
"Ya, Steve."
She choked, "What? No."
"Whatever you say."
"Dustin!"
He snickered and walked into the mall. Dustin lead the way to the ice cream parlor that held their friend.
"Have a nice day," the cute girl from band giving people ice cream said to her customers while handing them their cones.
"Thank you."
Dustin was the one to walk up to her, Kimberly decided to hang back knowing her boys would want to catch up, "Hi."
"Hi," she dejectedly said.
"I'm Dustin."
"I'm Robin."
Kimberly chuckled.
"Pleasure to meet you. Uh, is... is he here?"
"Is who here?"
"Henderson." Steve came out of the back room, arms raised in excitement hopping once, "Henderson! He's back! He's back!"
"I'm back! You got the job!"
"I got the job!" Steve made trumpet noises.
Dustin and Steve did their handshake.
"How many children are you friends with?" Robin looked at Steve, who just sighed.
"I think he's up to six now if my headcount is right?" Kimberly laughed.
Steve's eyes went wide in excitement, having not seen her off to the side, "K! You're back too!" He pulled her into a hug, which she returned laughing.
"Missed you too Cap, although," she playfully tapped his hat, "I think that nickname has a new meaning."
Steve rolled his eyes, and turned to Robin, "This is girl I was telling you about."
Kimberly raised her eyebrows at that, her and Dustin sharing a look.
