Chapter 19

The crowd was bustling with noise and chatters as the event proceeded, people were eating and drinking while the soft music flowed through the venue. Y/n had her eyes flitting over the crowd to find her children amongst the sea of people. As always they were missing when she specifically told them to stay put and remain where they've been told to stay.

"Cub."

She hears her husband's voice from behind. Jungkook looked handsome in his expensive tuxedo almost like a bright star as he made his way to her. He holds her hand, "They are with Namjoon hyung. Come it's almost time."

Y/n nods and follows, "They never listen."

Jungkook chuckles, "They are kids. Let them be. You've got me."

Y/n blushes and playfully hits him on his shoulder, "Stop talking."

"Mommy."  Hanuel screams when he sees her.

Everyone gives them a look of surprise and Y/n ducks her head to kneel before her son, "I told you to stay with me. Why did you run away ?"

"Eun noona said she saw Tessa nonna." Hanuel pouts, sad about upsetting his mother. But Y/n cups his face and pecks his forehead gently, "It's okay. Come it's almost time for daddy to go up on the stage. Let's cheer for him, yeah ?"

"Yes !" Eun and Hanuel squeals excitedly.

That makes Jungkook happy and he ruffles their head fondly. He pulls back the chairs for his children and wife before he sits himself.  Jungkook and Y/n helps their kids to eat some food so that they won't make a fuss later on while the function would happen.

Y/n waves over to her father and Kara who has come to attend the function. After long years of anonymity her father finally warms up to Jungkook. They are not close but are civil to each other as they don't want the kids to be deprived of their grandparents. Eun and Hanuel immediately go to sit next to their grandparents who pamper them so much.

On the other hand, Jungkook's parents now lives in another house. When their behaviour and treatment to Eun and Y/n got worse Jungkook decided that he won't let his parents hurt his family. So he sends them a monthly allowance and visits them with the kids once in a few months.

His parents apologized to Y/n after the incident but Y/n didn't want her daughter to experience anything that'll traumatize her childhood when her grandparents taunt her without a reason while her brother gets all the love. Y/n had been hesitant about Jungkook staying away from his parents but he assured that his parents were never good ones and that he knew it better than anyone.

Y/n glances at her husband with pride surging in her veins seeing how far he came. He is not a naive boy who wanted to become a boxer instead he is a well established and respected boxer of the country. Y/n clasps their hands together and give it a squeeze, "You ready ?"

Jungkook kisses her knuckles causing Y/n to blush, "Yes."

When the announcer calls out for Jungkook, he stands up after pecking his wife's and children's head once more making the audience coo at the sweet gesture. As he gets on the stage and recieves the award, Eun and Hanuel cheers loudly for their father along with Y/n who claps with a proud smile.

"Hello everyone." Jungkook speaks to the mic, "I am honoured to have recieved the golden achievement award for practicing my career in boxing for more than ten years. This is something I never thought I'd have one day but I am extremely happy to be presented with this award."

Jungkook breathes out a chuckle, "It wasn't easy. The journey till here was the toughest ride ever, I had to risk many things. Including the beautiful family that I have with me right now. I would've never come till here without the constant support and trust some very important people bestowed upon me."

"First being Kim Namjoon. He was my stepping stone and I know how much he has sacrificed for me so that I could reach here one day and win this for him. I hope you are happy, hyung." Jungkook says softly, his eyes on Namjoon who started tearing up as Tessa caressed his shoulders.

Y/n feels her breath stuttering when his eyes lay upon her. She sees him gulping before he starts talking again, "The person who gave me the strength to go forward, Jeon Y/n. I don't think any number of praises of words would ever be enough for whatever you've sacrificed for me. I'll spend my whole life in your debt."

Tears brim in her eyes but she holds back as he continues with a loving smile, "You gave me two precious gifts and you are on your way to giving me a third one. A person who is career driven like you finds it impossible to handle everything together but here you are doing it with such ease. You are precious to me and I'll make sure you know that everyday till I die. I love you, cub."

When he steps down from the stage Eun and Hanuel tackle him in a bear hug with the photographers capturing the moment in their cameras. Y/n stays back and smiles widely as Jungkook approaches her for another hug which she complies to while murmuring, "I love you."

"You do know that all of this is because of you, right ? All of it." Jungkook asks with a serious face. Y/n chuckles as she squeezes his cheeks, "It's because of us. All of it."

"Dad ! Up. Take me." Hanuel jumps on his feet.

Jungkook laughs and picks up both his children on either of his arms, "There you go. Happy babies ?"

Eun and Hanuel laughs kissing their father on his cheeks, "We love you."

Jungkook's eyes meets Y/n's in between the chaos and Y/n moves close to him, "You in for a ride ?"

Jungkook laughs heartily, "With you ? Always."

"Be ready for a ride that'll leave you awestruck."
