The school hours ended, and the majority of the students were drained from studying, they felt elation wash through their bodies as they rushed out of the school to head home and sleep. Sunghoon on the other hand had to manage the council room— also he had to babysit Heeseung, who would be taking the test. He frowned upon the thought, but his eyes widened in excitement when he saw Lia walking out of her class. He smiled, coughing to sound more clear when approaching.
"Hey, are you still up for the tutoring?" He spoke up, clearly. She looked up at him, surprised to see him all of a sudden. "Yeah! Of course, you'd always help me, so this is me paying you back for your kindness." That hit Sunghoon right on the chest; oh man— it hurt. She did this because she was paying him back, or else he would've never even had the opportunity. He awkwardly chuckled, feeling dejected.
"Ah..I see..." He looked away. They were walking slowly, and quietly when Lia accidentally bumped into someone.
"Ah— sorry! I was kinda in a hurry." The guy said. Sunghoon was pulled back to reality when he noticed the handsome guy staring into Lia's eyes. His eyes then darted to the girl beside him, and he felt his heart shatter at that moment. Lia looked at him, obviously blushing because of the close proximity between the two. He sighed, feeling tears in the brim of his eyes. He had been liking her for three years, and a random dude just came and sweeped her up.
"I..I'm gonna go. See you after school Lia." He didn't wait for a response and ran off to the council room to avoid breaking into sobs in front of people. Up until now, he never knew why people were so dramatic when their crush rejected them; but now, he felt it. Even though Lia hadn't rejected him, it felt as if she really did. 'It's okay, sunghoon. It happens.' He reassured himself and stood in front of the door.
He opened the door and entered inside, throwing his body on the couch. His clothes were disheveled, and his heart was racing. He couldn't watch it anymore, so he ran away— like he always did. He always ran away, and never looked back, because he was scared. Scared of what he might see— scared of the sight that can cut open scars for the rest of his life. He breathed out, calming his heart down.
"Look who's finally here. I've been waiting for you. Stupid ass." Heeseung walked out of the storage room, holding some files in his hands. He placed the file on Sunghoon's desk and pulled a chair, facing Sunghoon. He plopped himself down, and simply stared at Sunghoon's face, leaning closer.
"You good? You look like shit." Sunghoon was fuming with anger, and he didn't feel like putting up with Heeseung today, so he leaned closed, yanking his tie, and pulling him near his face.
Heeseung's heart stopped for a second. He was stunned, but he got carried away to even pull away. "Heeseung. I-I just don't feel good right now. Don't bother me. Just do the damn test!" He exclaimed. But then immediately regretted it when he saw Heeseung's eyes darken. He felt bad for doing what he did. His anger took the best of him. His face frowned as he loosened his grip on the other's tie.
"I'm sorry...I lashed out at you. It's not even your fault..." his hands slipped away from the tie as he laid back down on the couch, staring at the ceiling. "It's okay.. Happens to me too." Heeseung mumbled, shifting back in his seat.
They sat in silence for a few seconds, feeling comfortable for some reason. It wasn't awkward— nor was there any type of tension. It was just quiet and peaceful. "Is... it's about Lia, right?" Heeseung asked curiously.
"How'd you know?" sunghoon replied, not tearing his gaze from the ceiling. "I don't know. I just guessed." He said with a slight chuckle. Sunghoon sat up and stared at Heeseung. The boy felt nervous under his dark gaze— and he looked intimidating. "W-what? Why're you staring at me like that?"
