The moon was high in the sky, obscured by a group of wispy white clouds. Yet a stream of light still managed to sneak through the windows and illuminate the cabin.
The air was warm and silent. The only sound being the occasional cricket chirp and owl hoot. It was the middle of Summer too, which meant the winds were warm.
It was far past his normal bedtime, yet this night, Leo stayed awake. Eyes open and fixated on the sleeping form tucked against his side. Your hair was strewn across the pillow behind you, hands tucked beneath your cheek, body rising and falling with each breath.
Leo counted the lashes that lay against your cheeks and noted every time you twitched your nose and furrowed your brows. You seemed to be in REM sleep, identified by the way your eyes fluttered back and forth beneath the lids. Your lips were slightly parted, soft snores escaping them. They were tinted red and a bit swollen from all the kisses Leo had stolen earlier.
He couldn't get enough of you. After all, he did just return from a 3 month long journey.
A journey that had almost gotten him killed. He shuttered at the memory and wanted a different one to think about. His mind led him to earlier in the day, when he first arrived back to camp. You were in his arms before he had even finished stepping off the Argo II.
You held him close as you buried your face in his chest. He felt your warm tears soak his shirt so he wrapped his arms around your frame, shielding you from the rest of the crowd. He knew how you felt about getting emotional in front of people.
You mumbled how much you missed him into the fabric of his shirt. In response, he intertwined his fingers through your hair and tilted your head back so he could see you. Your lashes were damp with tears, cheeks red and puffy, and you had pulled your bottom lip between your teeth to prevent a pout. It didn't work.
Leo gulped. You looked so enticing.
Within seconds of the thought appearing in his mind, his body reacted and he pressed his lips against yours. The kiss started sweet and slow but when your hands pulled him closer, he knew he had unknowingly started something. Maybe it was the grip he had in your hair, or maybe it was the arm snaked around your waist that started it. Whatever it was, it would have to be finished away from everyones prying eyes.
The memory lifted the corner of Leo's mouth in a sly smile. He shouldn't be thinking of that now. Especially since you were snuggled right against him. Especially since the moonlight was illuminating the contours of your body and even the comforter couldn't conceal them. Then his eyes landed upon your kiss-swollen lips again and he gulped.
You were just too damn enticing.
Leo felt captured under a spell because he swears he doesn't remember pressing his lips against yours. But he does and it successfully pulls you from your slumber.
Your eyes blink open, it takes less than a second to register what was happening and before you could respond, Leo pulled away.
"Sorry," he mumbled, his eyes squeezing shut, cheeks turning crimson.
Your fingers brushed your lips. They felt more plush than usual, most likely from all the biting. From both you and the blushing boy in front of you.
