things you said while we were driving

"Are you sure we're headed in the right direction?" You voiced from your spot in the passenger seat.

"Yes, why?"

"Uh - because the quest said we should be heading North and right now we're going South," you retorted, pointing to the corner of the dash screen where the GPS displayed an S.

"Oh, don't listen to that thing," Leo replied, pushing your hand away. "Those things are always wrong, especially in these older models."

"It's a 2018."

"Okay - so - "

"Just admit we're lost," you laughed.

"No, because we aren't."

You gave him a look.

"Leo, we have 28 hours left to finish this. We don't have time for an ego fight right now."

"An ego fight? Bold of you to assume I have one."

"Okay," you sighed, pulling out the map from the middle compartment.

"But if I did, you'd be hurting it right now," he grumbled.

You ignored him and began attempting to pinpoint your location. The street names were so small and the ink was partially fading in some spots, but eventually you found the street you were on.

"Yup," you announced. "Headed in the complete opposite direction."

Leo grumbled and let his head fall back onto the headrest in defeat. He sent a look your way. You rolled your eyes and averted your gaze back to the road. He looked so cute with a pout on his face.

"Take the next right. We need to do a complete 360." You instructed. A clever smile lit your face as you spoke the next part. "Meaning we were lost."

Leo let out a humph

"I wasn't lost, I was just exploring our options."

This made you laugh. A loud hearty laugh that left a grin on your face even when it stopped. Leo saw it from the corner of his eye.

Coming up on an emptier intersection, his wicked mind conceived a plan.

"A 360 you said?" he asked.

"Yes, a total 360," you giggled, but when you glanced his way the smile disappeared. He was smirking in his seat now with both of his hands gripping the wheel.

"What are you - "

"Hold on," Leo hailed.

You didn't have the chance to respond as the car lurched forward and the engine roared. Leo cut the wheel to the left, and the sound of the tires screeching could be heard as the car drifted around the intersection until you were facing the direction you came.

The jolting motion sent butterflies fluttering in your stomach. It was a similar feeling to the one you got riding a roller coaster.

Your hands sprung to grab hold of the safety handle above your door. But it wasn't needed as the vehicle's movements were smooth. You hadn't even realized you were now driving in the opposite direction. Where did Leo learn that?

"Are you alright?" He asked, reaching across the dash to squeeze your hand, a bright grin on his face.

"Yes, I'm...fine." You gulped. "Maybe a better warning next time?"

He laughed, intertwining his fingers into yours.

"Sorry, had to pick up some of the ego I dropped."
